Tim met ex-drummer Ben Davis during a cigarette break at school. Ben (who then played bass) and Tim started to play together on a regular basis until Tim invited Airin Older, a fellow classmate, to join. Ben was moved to the position of drummer and Airin filled in for Ben on bass. Marko DeSantis was added into the band after meeting Tim back stage at a Superdrag concert. The pair apparently met because Tim was wearing a suit that resembled the one Marko wore to the show. Tim asked Marko to join the band before even hearing Marko play a single note on the guitar.
In the Summer of 2004, the critically acclaimed "Vans Warped Tour" featured Sugarcult, who were, in fact, the final band to play at the year's tour.
After the tour, the Band teamed up with Green Day, and New Found Glory on their tour of the US, and were a huge success.
In 2006, The EA Games title "Burnout 3: Takedown" featured the song "Memory" from the Album "Palm Trees and Power Lines" and was an instant success.
After years of touring and recording, Ben was asked to leave the band due to his extensive alcoholism. Ben has said he would rather be sober out of the band than drunk and still in the band. Kenny Livingston was drafted into the band after recording Palm Trees And Power Lines and touring with the band.

You better keep it in control or you'll go crazy
Back mask, spinning wax, the record had a heart attack
It made you do things that drove you crazy
You're the one
You're the one
You're the one, that's making me crazy
You're the one that keeps it coming when I'm running out of loving
I can only do it once they'll call me lazy
Take back this and that
Shut your mouth my wallet's fat
I'm selling out to make another million
You're the one
You're the one
You're the one, that's making me crazy
I'm in love but it's only temporary
You're the one
You're the one, that's making me crazy
I'm in love but it's only temporary
It's makin me crazy
I'm in love but it's only temporary
Temporary
You're the one
Sugarcult's "You're The One" is an energetic and catchy song that talks about the pressure of being a performer, the dangers of fame and how sometimes love is only temporary. The opening lyrics indicate that the singer is aware that someone else on stage with him is more talented and has more stage presence, but he urges himself to not let his own talent be upstaged. The line "You better keep it in control or you'll go crazy" speaks to the immense pressure that performers feel to put on a good show and maintain their success. The second verse talks about indulging in drugs and other vices because of the pressure, and the way it can make one lose control and do things they wouldn't necessarily do otherwise.
The chorus of "You're The One" seems to be directed at a specific person who is the singer's love interest, who they describe as the one who keeps them going when they are low on love. However, they acknowledge that their feelings are temporary and potentially fleeting, just like their fame and success. The bridge continues the theme of the dangers of fame, with the singer saying that they will sacrifice their integrity and sell out if it means making another million.
