Suicidal Tendencies Lyrics

Sail the darkness but this ain't sleep
Heard the sound, could it be I got the message
But the message wasn't intended for me
Can't you see there's a madman working
He's putting in overtime
Too content with the sweet scent of denial
You're oblivious to the signs
It's a struggle for the reason
But it's the only thing I know
No surprise, here's more lies and you still are wailing
What the hell are you saying
And you're fly fly flying with lie lie lying
Where's the truth, where's the truth, why you lying
Truth abuse, what's the use, it's not a game you're playing
Do you know what I'm saying
And you're high high hiding with lie lie lying
Where's the truth, where's the truth, where's the truth
I'm not you, you're not me, that's the difference
So you can't deny we're the same
What's the point, that's what sticks huh exactly
Take a second helping of the blame
Not a scare not a bomb not a warning
A condition that no one should doubt
There's a tick tock tick tock
Ticking in my head you gotta get out
Yet I cannot deny the reason
'Cause it's the only thing I know
No remorse, danger course, and you still are wailing
You don't know what you're saying
And you're fly fly flying with lie lie lying
Where's the truth, where's the truth, why you lying
Sick in thought, disease you've caught
Is it a game you're playing, do you know what I'm saying
And you're high high hiding with lie lie lying
Where's the truth, where's the truth, where's the truth
It's a struggle for the reason
But it's the only thing I know
Too much tweak, dosage leak
And you still are wailing, what the hell are you saying
And you're fly fly flying with lie lie lying
Where's the truth, where's the truth, why are you lying
Set to lose, why you choose
It's not a game you're playing, do you know what I'm saying
And you're high high hiding with lie lie lying
Where's the truth, where's the truth
Where's the truth, where's the truth, where's the truth
Where's the truth, where's the truth, where's the truth
You're lying!

The repeated line "Where's the truth" emphasizes the importance of honesty and transparency. The song suggests that individuals should take responsibility for their actions and stop blaming others or society for their problems. As a black kid into metal and punk in the late 80's slash early 90's, Rocky George was my hero. As corny as it sounds, he showed me I was the only black dude into this kind music. He inspired me to start playing guitar and after reading a article on ST, I started the Oakland chapter of the Suicidals gang. At max, we only had two members but me and boy Andrew repped ST and the Suicidals to fullest in the summer of 89, lol.
Props to Rocky, both Mike's and the rest of the Suicidal crew. I'm a member of the gang 4 life.

I liked him too in the 80's, also Ernie C. Here in Finland we didn't really know of the race problems there, specially because i was 10 yo and never seen a black person personally, only on videos, and i thought it was super cool. Now 20-40 years later, I've been thinking of the diversity of suicidals, early 80's and a mix of all major types, as it should be. Good shit!

Black dudes had a huge influence on the punk scene particularly in the early days on the west coast - don't let anyone tell you that blacks don't belong in the punk scene, ever.
