Famous
Sullivan Jazmine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I used to dream about cars and things.
Bout being a star and things.
I thought that I would outgrow this feeling.
My dream won't go away.

It's more like a nightmare.
Keepin' me up all night,
Like a nightmare.
It's taking over my mind.
My desire burns inside like a flame
And it can't and it won't be contained.

Cause I gotta be famous
I need to be somebody

No one wants to be invisible
Everyone just wants to be seen.
I know one thing is so irresistible
Cause we all need a reason to be.
So I wanna matter.
To the world.
To a girl.
Watching me on TV.
Watching me and I want her to wanna be me.
To be me and I wanna be her dream.
Be hear dream.

So I gotta be famous.
I gotta be somebody.
So I gotta be famous.
I gotta be somebody.

And I'll do anything to get where you are.
I'll do anything to reach the stars.
You don't want what you have,
But I want it so bad.
You say it ain't fair but what ain't fair is no one cares if you ain't famous.
You ain't famous.
Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh. Oh oh oh.

So I gotta be famous.
I gotta be somebody.

Cause I gotta be famous.
I need to be somebody.

Overall Meaning

In β€œFamous,” Jazmine Sullivan sings about her desire to be seen and recognized, to leave a lasting impact on the world. She starts by talking about how she used to dream about material things like cars and fame, but that those dreams have evolved into a desire for lasting recognition. Her desire to be someone important burns inside her like a flame, and she feels like she’s living a nightmare because she can’t shake it. She desires to be famous, to matter, and to be the reason someone else dreams of being like her.

This song digs deep into the universal desire to be seen, to be relevant, and to make a difference in the world. It speaks to the feeling of being invisible and unknown, and the longing to be recognized and celebrated for one’s talents and hard work. The song suggests that being famous is the ultimate goal, and that without it, one’s work and worth might go unrecognized.

Overall, β€œFamous” is a powerful anthem about the importance of recognition and visibility in our society. It’s a raw and honest look at the struggles of trying to make it big in the entertainment industry, and how that drive for fame can consume a person’s thoughts and emotions.

I heard this song in Wendy's while eating a amazing Dave's Hot and Juicy burger. Almost dropped the burger because I was trying to hurry and use the Shazam app to find out who was singing this song. Didn't know it was Jazmine Sullivan. I truly fell in love with this song first time I listened to it. At that moment I was hooked by her vocals, especially towards the end of the song with the guitars. 10/10. ❀️❀️

😒my heart shatters every time when I try to sing this song to the finish even if you don’t understand the song when you learn the lyrics of a song and begin to sing a song you can’t help but to finally figure it out and understand it before and then that’s where it comes. if you love what you do rather you think you can do a good or not every song you sing will have An imprint on you in your own life individually that’s the understanding I have and because I have them because I so badly want to be as talented and confident as the artist that originated this song still searching for my own voice. πŸ˜… In due time
