Born and raised in the suburbs of Boston Massachusetts, Erna has been a musician since the tender age of 3 and a half years old, where he began his journey as a drummer.
Sully Erna's latest masterpiece, Avalon, features an array of eclectic compositions unlike anything he has ever written in the past, an epic body of work that has taken him over 2 years to compose, record and finally release, utilizing the hypnotic sounds of tribal rhythms, melodic pianos and cellos, and haunting vocals. Avalon also features the accompanying vocals of Lisa Guyer, as well as the hand percussion of Niall Gregory from renowned band Dead Can Dance.

The Rise
Sully Erna Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Bracing and strong
Coming alive
Take back all that is lost
Honor your pride
Generation!
Time stops
Moving around
Hands raised
Fading to black
Fall to the ground
From within
You'll begin to rise
Feel the rise
Breathe deep
Wind down
Reach back
Hear the sound
You will see
From within
You'll begin, feel the rise
Feel the rise
Feel the rise
Feel the rise
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
Feel the rise
Feel the rise
Feel the rise
Feel the rise
Feel
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
That which is like
Unto itself is drawn
Feel the rise
The lyrics to Sully Erna's song The Rise are about overcoming obstacles and reclaiming lost power. The opening lines tell the listener to take a deep breath and brace themselves, suggesting that some sort of physical or mental challenge is coming. The next few lines encourage the listener to take back what has been lost and honor their pride, possibly suggesting that the challenge they are facing has caused them to lose some sense of self-worth or power.
The chorus repeats the phrase "feel the rise" and encourages the listener to look inward and begin to rise up from within themselves. The verse "That which is like unto itself is drawn" suggests that if one focuses on their own strength and positive qualities, they will attract more of the same into their life. The song ends with a repetition of "feel the rise" as a sort of mantra, encouraging the listener to continue pushing themselves and rising up.
Overall, the song's message is one of empowerment and resilience in the face of adversity. It encourages the listener to believe in themselves and their abilities, to push through difficult times, and to reclaim their own power.
