When We Were Young
Sultan feat. Ned Shepard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I know you hopes and dreams they will collide,
Take all your things you'll go and run and hide,
Do you remember how it felt when we were young,
Do you remember how it felt when we were young.
Today we have the chance to feel again
To hear the sounds that brought us in
To laugh, to cry, to live again.
Today we have the chance to feel again
To hear the sounds that brought us in
To laugh, to cry, to live again
Like when we were young.
Like when were young
Like when were young
I know your hopes and dreams they will collide,
Take all your things you'll go and run and hide,
Do you remember how it felt when we were young,
Do you remember how it felt when we were young.
Today we have the chance to feel again,
To hear the sounds that brought us in,
To laugh, to cry, to live again.
Today we have the chance to feel again,
To hear the sounds that brought us in,
To laugh, to cry, to live again,
Like when were young.
Were young, were young, were young, were young
Were young, were young, were young, were young
Were young, were young, were young, were young
Were young, like when we were young
Like when were young
Like when were young

Like when were young
Like when were young

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sultan feat. Ned Shepard's song, "When We Were Young," reflect on the memories and emotions of youth and the nostalgia that comes with it. The lines "I know your hopes and dreams they will collide, take all your things you'll go and run and hide," express the fear of growing up and facing the challenges that come with it. The second set of lines, "Do you remember how it felt when we were young," stirs up memories of the carefree and innocent times of youth, which is further emphasized in the repetition of the phrase, "like when we were young."

The chorus, "Today we have the chance to feel again, to hear the sounds that brought us in, to laugh, to cry, to live again," expresses a desire to go back in time to relive those moments of youth. It's an acknowledgement that while we can't go back in time, we can still re-experience those feelings of joy, pain, and excitement. The repetition of "were young" in the outro emphasizes the desire to recapture that youthful spirit.

Overall, the lyrics to "When We Were Young" encapsulate the bittersweet nostalgia of youth and the longing to recapture its essence.

R.I.P Pierce Fulton. When I heard the news that he died this remix immediately popped into my head despite not having listened to it for a while. For you to be able to remember a particular song/remix well even after not hearing it for a while and still being entertained by how you remember it sounding is a great thing in my opinion because it confirms that the song or remix is really well-crafted and catchy in order for it to have been able to be remembered in the future at a moment's notice, and still be very enjoyable. This remix honestly has been one of my favorite remixes of When We Were Young since I heard it a couple years ago, with Zomboy's remix being my other favorite.
