In the interim, he had worked as a session singer, performing on the Hallmark's labels 'Top of the Pops' LPs, while releasing numerous singles under various aliases. These included studio aggregation Summer Wine, who also featured long-term associate John Perry, former Cat Stevens producer Mike Hurst and ex-Spencer Davis Group guitarist Ray Fenwick.
Summer Wine released four singles in the U.K. between June 1972 and July 1973.
