In the beginning, Sunderland was the hit trio of their hometown of Hood River, OR, consisting of Mcknley Kitts on guitar/vocals, Dylan Bauld on bass/backing vocals, and Vaughan Heppe on drums. Playing at their local River City Saloon in front of an ever-increasing crowd every month. About two years later, the trio decided to expand their sound and add lead guitarist Zachary Grace to the team. Soon after becoming a quartet they began work on their first album, A Change of Pace (produced by Dylan Bauld and Sean Norton). The EP received a lot of attention from venues in Portland, and eventually lead them to open for national touring acts such as Play Radio Play, The Dangerous Summer, The Morning Of, Allstar Weekend, and Hedley.
Sunderland is currently in the process of writing and re-writing songs for their sophomore EP (Which has yet to be named). They will be heading down to Los Angeles in late October of this year to begin recording and producing the album with co-owner of Drive-Thru Records, Richard Reines.

Back With You
Sunderland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I let lose my mouth and now I've said too much
I haven't been my best
A little bit of bad has trickled in with all the rest
And I'm not what you need
And I'm not who I want to be
And I'll be honest here
I've been scaring myself consistently
But I'm not far behind
If I give it up, it's over
I won't slip this time
I've been losing hope
With every step I take I hurt the ones that I love most
I'm at a loss for words
Every apology I speak, is something you've already heard
And I'm not what you need
(I'm not what you need)
And I'm not who I want to be
And though it hurts to say
(Though it hurts to say)
I miss the boy I used to be, more and more each day
I run a little slower
But I'm not far behind
If I give it up, it's over
I won't slip this time
I never thought I'd lose you, but I'm not far behind
And I'll do anything to get back with you
I'm not gonna stop, I'm gonna get on my knees
Cause everybody's looking
Looking for the one to take their breath away
And I'm not gonna give you up
I'm not gonna be the one who fades, fades from your memory
I'm not gonna be the one who fades
So what do you say?
Hey darling
What do you say to me?
I run a little slower
But I'm not far behind
If I give it up, it's over
I won't slip this time
I never thought I'd lose you
But I'm not far behind
And I'll do anything to get back with you
Oh, I'll do anything to get back with you
The lyrics of Sunderland's song Back with You convey the singer's regret and remorse for their past mistakes that have caused pain to the people they love. They reflect on how they have lost touch with themselves and their loved ones and how they are not the person they wish to be. The singer admits that they have been scaring themselves and losing hope, hurting the ones they love in the process.
The lyrics also show a glimpse of hope as the singer declares that they will do anything to get back with the person they lost. They acknowledge their faults but promise to not give up and fade away from that person's memory. The singer runs a little slower but is not far behind and promises to not slip this time. The song ends with the singer asking the person what they say and stating that they will do anything to get back with them.
Overall, the lyrics of Back with You reflect on the familiar theme of love lost and regret for past mistakes, conveyed through emotive language and vivid imagery.
