In the beginning, Sunderland was the hit trio of their hometown of Hood River, OR, consisting of Mcknley Kitts on guitar/vocals, Dylan Bauld on bass/backing vocals, and Vaughan Heppe on drums. Playing at their local River City Saloon in front of an ever-increasing crowd every month. About two years later, the trio decided to expand their sound and add lead guitarist Zachary Grace to the team. Soon after becoming a quartet they began work on their first album, A Change of Pace (produced by Dylan Bauld and Sean Norton). The EP received a lot of attention from venues in Portland, and eventually lead them to open for national touring acts such as Play Radio Play, The Dangerous Summer, The Morning Of, Allstar Weekend, and Hedley.
Sunderland is currently in the process of writing and re-writing songs for their sophomore EP (Which has yet to be named). They will be heading down to Los Angeles in late October of this year to begin recording and producing the album with co-owner of Drive-Thru Records, Richard Reines.

Echoes
Sunderland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To know how you are,
Is just what I need to rip me apart
I've got so much on my mind
Don't have the time to be thinking all about
What I'm missing out on
You just keep your mouth shout,
With me just stop because I don't
Wanna hear at all
Who you're with or where you are
You just keep your mouth shut
'Cause your words are echoing in this town
I can't go out, you'll come about somehow
I have nowhere to go, I can't escape at all
I don't wanna know
To know how you are
I admit what I've done
I made a mess of everything because I choked up
I tore us apart
I had so much on my mind
Didn't have the time to be holding onto you
And what I went through
You just keep your mouth shut (Your mouth shut)
Don't talk to me or anyone to share what you've got
With me just stop because I don't
(What you've got)
Wanna hear at all
Who you're with or where you are
You just keep your mouth shut
'Cause your words are echoing in this town
I can't go out, you'll come about somehow
I have nowhere to go, I can't escape at all
I don't wanna know
To know how you are
This is getting so complicated
It's taken over my home
Can't seem to ever let you go
This is getting so complicated
I wish you'd kept your mouth shut
This ain't a love song
No, this ain't a love song
'Caue your words are echoing in this town
I can't go out, you'll come about somehow
I have nowhere to go, I can't escape at all
I don't wanna know
To know how you are (This ain't a love song)
Your words are echoing in this town (This ain't a love song)
I can't go out, you'll come about somehow
This ain't a love song
No, this ain't a love song
I wish you'd kept your mouth shut
The song "Echoes" by Sunderland is a deeply emotional and introspective track about a failed relationship. The opening verse sets the tone for the song, with the singer admitting that he is struggling to move on from the breakup and that he feels torn apart by his feelings. He is so preoccupied with his own thoughts that he doesn't have time to think about what he might be missing.
The chorus is where the full emotional weight of the song comes through. The singer instructs his ex-partner to "keep your mouth shut" and not talk to him or anyone else about what she's been up to. He can't bear the thought of her words echoing around in the town, reminding him of all the pain and heartbreak he's been through. He feels trapped and unable to escape the situation, and all he can do is wish that she had kept her mouth shut in the first place.
The second verse reveals that the singer is aware that he played a role in the relationship's failure. He admits that he had too much on his mind and wasn't able to hold onto his partner. He tore them apart and now he's left with the painful aftermath, unable to move on or escape from his emotions.
Overall, "Echoes" is a powerful and affecting song that captures the complex emotions of a failed relationship. It showcases Sunderland's ability to write deeply personal and evocative lyrics that resonate with listeners on a deep level.
