In the beginning, Sunderland was the hit trio of their hometown of Hood River, OR, consisting of Mcknley Kitts on guitar/vocals, Dylan Bauld on bass/backing vocals, and Vaughan Heppe on drums. Playing at their local River City Saloon in front of an ever-increasing crowd every month. About two years later, the trio decided to expand their sound and add lead guitarist Zachary Grace to the team. Soon after becoming a quartet they began work on their first album, A Change of Pace (produced by Dylan Bauld and Sean Norton). The EP received a lot of attention from venues in Portland, and eventually lead them to open for national touring acts such as Play Radio Play, The Dangerous Summer, The Morning Of, Allstar Weekend, and Hedley.
Sunderland is currently in the process of writing and re-writing songs for their sophomore EP (Which has yet to be named). They will be heading down to Los Angeles in late October of this year to begin recording and producing the album with co-owner of Drive-Thru Records, Richard Reines.

Everybody Wants
Sunderland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Have you lost your mind?
Always end up wrong when you try to get it right
Looking where you are
Haven't got very far
Looking for some sun but you're at home in the dark
From where I am
All I see is a fake and some wasted possibilities
Looking for the lives down in Hollywood
'Cause everybody wants what they can't have
It's gonna be hard to catch
But that won't keep me from trying
Are you in control
Have you got a hold
Always tryin' to stay when you know that you should go
Got your goals inside
And that you've got it right
You made it big and for only one night
From where I am
All I see is a fake and some wasted possibilities
'Cause everybody wants what they can't have
Looking for the lives down in Hollywood
'Cause everybody wants what they can't have
It's gonna be hard to catch
But that won't keep me from trying
(Everybody wants what they can't have)
(Everybody wants what they can't have)
Everybody wants what they can't have
Everybody wants what they can't have
'Cause everybody wants what they can't have
(Wants what they can't have)
Looking for the lives down in Hollywood
Everybody wants what they can't have
(Wants what they cant have)
It's gonna be hard to catch
'Cause everybody wants what they can't have
(Wants what they can't have)
Looking for the lives down in Hollywood
Everybody wants what they can't have
(Wants what they can't have)
It's gonna be hard to catch
But that won't keep me from trying
That won't keep me from trying
The song "Everybody Wants" by Sunderland is about the idea that everybody wants what they can't have. The song explores the issue of people constantly searching for things that are out of reach and not appreciating what they already have. The opening lines "Have you lost your sight? Have you lost your mind?" suggest that the singer is addressing someone who is unable to see the good things in their life and is always seeking more.
The song also touches on the theme of Hollywood and how people believe that by living there, they will be able to achieve their dreams. The lines "Looking for the lives down in Hollywood / 'Cause everybody wants what they can't have" convey the idea that people believe that success and happiness are only achievable in certain places or by having certain things.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Everybody wants what they can't have" as a reminder that people should focus on what they already have instead of always striving for more. The line "It's gonna be hard to catch / But that won't keep me from trying" suggests that the singer understands that it's difficult to change one's mindset, but they are still willing to try.
Overall, "Everybody Wants" is a thought-provoking song that encourages listeners to appreciate what they have and to let go of the notion that success can only be achieved by acquiring more.
