Sunk Loto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You scratched the surface to see what was inside
I couldn't stop it, you fuckin' liked it
Your voice would never end and fucked with my mind
You said you'd kill yourself
'Cause what you needed was a fucking prescription
I don't want to hear your voice, I don't want to see your face
Conversations never grew, never would amount to anything
Conversations never grew, never would amount to anything
Get your prescription
You tried to fuck me then tried to frame me
Now I don't want to hear your voice, I don't want to see your fucking face
This lullaby that you sang wasn't sweet.
In Sunk Loto's song Help, the lyrics tell the story of a toxic relationship that has gone sour. The song opens with the singer reminiscing about their former lover who had an insatiable curiosity. They were curious about everything and wanted to see everything, even if it meant scratching beneath the surface of people's lives. The singer couldn't stop it, and their significant other enjoyed digging deep into their mind, even when it became overwhelming for the singer. The significant other had a voice that would never end, and it messed with the singer's mind. The next line suggests that the significant other threatened to kill themselves if they didn't receive a prescription they desperately needed.
The chorus says that the singer doesn't want to hear the significant other's voice or see their face again since they became toxic. The significant other needed help because they required a prescription, but the singer doesn't want anything to do with it. The second verse says that the conversations between the two never grew and never amounted to anything. The significant other tries to frame the singer and attempts to initiate a sexual encounter before the singer realizes their toxic nature. The singer declares the significant other's lullaby as not sweet, highlighting the significant other's manipulation tactics.
Overall, the song speaks about how toxic relationships can drag one down and force one to establish boundaries to protect their mental wellbeing. The lyrics hold great significance today, where mental health practices have become more commonplace, and people have started educating themselves on how to stay mentally healthy.
