Sunride was formed in 1993 in Jyväskylä, Finland. They released their self-titled debut demo in 1996. The original line-up consisted of Jani Peippo - Vocals (see also Downfall, Godfall), Mikko Rikala - Guitar, Wille Naukkarinen - Guitar (see also Ghost Brigade), Janne Savolainen - Bass, Screams (see also Rite), Veli-Matti Suihkonen - Drums (see also Ghost Brigade). Janne Julin (see also Ghost Brigade) later replaced Janne Savolainen in Bass.
As of February 3rd, 2006 Sunride was put on hiatus for an indefinitive period of time.

Why do you hit me when I hit the ground
These lyrics are full of pain and frustration in a relationship where one partner continually brings the other down with their words and actions. The first two lines set the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer being hit repeatedly by their partner's words. The repetition of the phrase "you hit me again" emphasizes the cyclical nature of this pain.
The next two lines refer to the partner leaving, as if they've done something wrong and are fleeing the scene. The pain felt by the singer is so great that they cannot understand why the partner would leave them in such a vulnerable state.
