Lucia Holm was a session cellist, and when she met Carnell at a warehouse rave in Essex they agreed to form a band. Early independent singles and Walk On and Pressure were medium hits in Britain, and in 1993, Love U More, and Perfect Motion from their debut album, O₃ (which got major distribution by Columbia/Sony), became their trademark song and one of their biggest hits to date. Their cover of the Marianne Faithfull song, Broken English in 1992 gave Sunscreem their highest UK chart position (13). They were heavily remixed throughout the 90s, by artists like K-Klass, Jimmy Gomez, Trouser Enthusiasts, and Leftfield.
In 1996, Sunscreem released their second album, Change or Die. They had a string of minor Top 40 singles from this album including When, Exodus, White Skies, and Secrets.
Change or Die wasn't heavily promoted - in or outside the UK - and wasn't commercially released outside the UK, leading to Sunscreem negotiating their release from their contract with Sony. in 1997 the band released a new album via their own label, Kali: New Dark Times.
Other albums released in this period were Ten Mile Bank (2001) and the collection Looking at You: The Club Anthems.
In May 2015, Sunscreem released a new album - Sweet Life - via iTunes.

Never thought you would
Can't believe what their eyes told them
Never could
Kissed the girls and made them cry
Never thought you could
Can't believe what the skies told them
Others could
Shook the rest change their minds
Never understood
Cannot see just how their sight fails them
Never could
Took the boys dressed in lies
Never thought you would
If they believed what their eyes told and understood
Kissed the girls and made them cry
Never thought you would
Can't believe what the skies told them
Others could
Shake the rest
Change their minds
Make it understood
If they can't see just how their sight fails them
Make it good
Put the world back in the light
Have you not thought we should?
The shining of one million eyes
As we unite for good
The song Exodus by Sunscreem speaks about revolution and change. The opening lines 'took the boys by surprise never thought you would/can't believe what their eyes told them never could/kissed the girls and made them cry never thought you could/can't believe what the skies told them others could' describe an unexpected shake-up in the status quo that came as a surprise to everyone. The next lines 'shook the rest change their minds never understood/cannot see just how their sight fails them never could' suggest that this revolution or change made some people question their own beliefs and perception of the world, causing them to re-evaluate their own understanding of things. The third verse further elaborates on this by saying 'took the boys dressed in lies/never thought you would/if they believed what their eyes told and understood/kissed the girls and made them cry/never thought you would/can't believe what the skies told them/others could.' The 'boys dressed in lies' refers to people who were oblivious to a false reality, and when they finally saw the truth, they were left astonished. The 'girls' in this stanza could represent something that had untapped potential, that is finally being given a chance to bloom.
The chorus of the song 'shake the rest/change their minds/make it understood/if they can't see just how their sight fails them/make it good' is a battle cry for change. It urges people to break free from their preconceived notions and embrace the truth. The last verse of the song 'put the world back in the light/have you not thought we should/the shining of one million eyes/as we unite for good' encourages people to come together and bring back light into the world. The 'one million eyes' in this verse could represent millions of people uniting for a common cause that brings about long-standing and positive change.
