Prior to becoming affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan, Sunz were known as Da Last Future and included rappers Shabazz The Disciple and 7th Ambassador, along with producer Supreme. 7th Ambassador retired before the group's Wu-affiliated days really got started, and soon before the release of their debut album The Last Shall Be First in 1998 both Killah Priest and Shabazz began to clash with Wu leader RZA, both eventually effectively cutting their Wu ties and leaving the group for solo careers. Supreme was kicked out of the group in late 2000, when it was discovered he had been heavily bootlegging the group's music, including leaking a whole album titled The First Testament. Killah Priest, who was absent from the recording of the group's second album proper Saviorz Day in 2002, has began to rediscover his Wu-Tang ties and is expected to work with the group again soon, while Shabazz made his official return to Sunz Of Man in early 2003.

The lyrics to Sunz of Man's song For the Lust of Money / The Grandz tells a story of two people discussing the need to acquire money. The lyrics begin with the two people arguing about money, and one of them becomes frustrated and angry at the other for constantly asking for money. They then discuss the idea of obtaining "grands" or a large amount of money, and they speak about how they can get it. Each member of the group takes a verse to speak on their ambitions to gain wealth through either illegal or legal means, and they assert that they will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. They also emphasize the importance of obtaining money, as it seems to be the only way for survival in their environment.
The song's lyrics depict the struggle for survival in a society where money is the only means of survival. The lyrics also depict the idea that money can be obtained through both legal and illegal ways. The artists also emphasize the importance of staying true to oneself while striving for success, as they make references to high-profile members of the black community such as Russell Simmons and Kobe Bryant.
Interestingly, the song's single version is titled For the Lust of Money while the album version is titled The Grandz. The song features prodigious intros to each verse by rapper 60 Second Assassin. It features a sample from Wu-Tang Clan's classic track "Ice Cream." The four members of Sunz of Man each take a verse in the song. Killah Priest, who was an exclusive affiliate of the Wu-Tang Clan, produced the song with the group. The song's beat features a melancholic piano melody and a bassline with a good rhythm. The song's lyrics have a deeper meaning, and it's up to the listener to interpret them. The song's official music video was released on YouTube in 2013.
Chords: Unfortunately, the chords to the song are not available as it is sung mainly with the accompaniment of rap.
