Prior to becoming affiliated with the Wu-Tang Clan, Sunz were known as Da Last Future and included rappers Shabazz The Disciple and 7th Ambassador, along with producer Supreme. 7th Ambassador retired before the group's Wu-affiliated days really got started, and soon before the release of their debut album The Last Shall Be First in 1998 both Killah Priest and Shabazz began to clash with Wu leader RZA, both eventually effectively cutting their Wu ties and leaving the group for solo careers. Supreme was kicked out of the group in late 2000, when it was discovered he had been heavily bootlegging the group's music, including leaking a whole album titled The First Testament. Killah Priest, who was absent from the recording of the group's second album proper Saviorz Day in 2002, has began to rediscover his Wu-Tang ties and is expected to work with the group again soon, while Shabazz made his official return to Sunz Of Man in early 2003.

Shining Star
Sunz of Man Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Your dreams will take you very far
But when you wish upon a dream
Life ain't always what it seems
What'd you see on a night so clear
In the sky so very dear
You're a shining star
Shining bright to see
What you could truly be
Shining star come in to view
Shine its watchful light on you
Give you strength to carry on
Make your body big and strong
Born a man child of the sun
Saw your work had just begun
Found I had to stand alone
Bless it now I've got my own
So, if you find yourself in need
Why don't you listen to these words and heed
Be you giant or grain of sand
Words of wisdom are ?Yes I can?
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you could truly be
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you could truly be
The Sunz of Man's song Shining Star is all about self-belief and the power of positive thinking. The opening lines, "When you wish upon a star, Your dreams will take you very far, But when you wish upon a dream, Life ain't always what it seems", suggest that simply wishing for something is not enough. Dreams can be deceptive, and reality may not match up to our expectations. However, the song goes on to say that we can all be shining stars and achieve our potential, regardless of who we are.
The lyrics then describe a clear night sky, symbolizing the infinite potential and possibilities of life. The shining star is a metaphor for a guiding light or a beacon of hope, that can help us find our way and give us the strength to overcome obstacles. The line, "Make your body big and strong, Born a man child of the sun, Saw your work had just begun" suggests that we all have a purpose in life and we need to work hard to fulfill it. The song also implies that being independent and standing alone can be a sign of strength, and that we should all strive to find and develop our own unique talents.
Overall, the message of the song is to believe in ourselves, work hard, and never give up on our dreams. We are all capable of being shining stars and achieving great things, regardless of our background or circumstances.

It's great that a legendary group like EARTH WIND & FIRE were open minded enough to work with the WU generation to combine this tight link to produce this classic without egos.If only more Older Groups would do the same instead of focusing on the Negativity in Hip Hop.WU was created to uplift.
