Soul Sister
Superbus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mon enfant, ma sœur
Songe à la douceur d'aller là-bas vivre ensemble

Si tu me parles, regarde-moi
Je ferai comme si je voyais pas
Si tu tapes là où ça saigne
Tu passes tes nuits sans sommeil
Soul sister, where are you going?
Some of us are born to ruin everything
Soul sister, why are you going?
Tears on my pillow, I'm suffering

Mon enfant, ma sœur
Songe à la douceur d'aller là-bas vivre ensemble

Si tu me dragues, regarde-moi
Je ferai comme au cinéma
Si tu vises là où ça me plaît
Ça risque de panser mes plaies

Soul sister, where are you going?
Some of us are born to ruin everything
Soul sister, why are you going?
Tears on my pillow are wondering

Mon enfant, ma sœur
Songe à la douceur d'aller là-bas vivre ensemble

Soul sister, where are you going?
Some of us are born to ruin everything

Soul sister, why are you going?
Tears on my pillow, I'm suffering

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Superbus's song "Soul Sister" speak about the pain and suffering that come with love and relationships. The song begins with a plea to a loved one, either a child or sister, to dream of the sweetness of living together. But as the song continues, the tone becomes more somber and introspective. The singer addresses their lover, telling them that if they talk to them, they will pretend not to see. They also warn their lover that if they hit where it hurts, they will have endless sleepless nights. The chorus reiterates the pain the singer is experiencing, asking why their soul sister is leaving and stating that some people are born to ruin everything.

The song continues on this theme, with the singer again addressing their lover, telling them that if they make a pass at them, they will do it as in a movie. If they target what they like, it might heal their wounds. The chorus once again repeats the pain and suffering that the singer is experiencing. The song closes with a final plea to the loved one to think of the sweetness of living together, but the underlying tone is one of sadness and resignation.
