There will always be a popular and attractive girl who is selected as the prom queen.

Groups of friends who join together to form a clique or sorority, and exclude others exist always.

Unfortunately, some people are only interested in keeping tabs on their popularity and social status than anything else.

Eternally keeping score for popularity
Some people will always look for ways to measure their popularity and status over others.

Although some students do certain things, it doesn't mean that we should too.

Most people participate in high school culture and competition, but we don't have to follow them.

Doesn't mean we have to act like we're in high school
We have the choice to opt-out of competitive or superficial high school behavior and rise above it.

High school is like a big competition
A lot of the social structure and interactions are built around competition.

Beauty contests, prom court is the mission
Winning the attention of the popular crowds is the most important for many students.

There can only be one queen, one king
The top of the social hierarchy is reserved for one person, but it's not necessarily the best candidate.

Everyone voting, everyone competing
All the students participate in voting and competing for popularity, which makes the competition more intense.

But these are the rules, the way of high school
The competition and behavior are the rules of the game, which everyone follows without questioning.

If someone puts you down, that's so high school
Talking behind someone's back or putting someone down is part of the high school culture and reflects poorly on the person doing it.

Someone talks behind your back,
Telling negative things about you to others in your absence.

Thinking you have to get them back,
Wanting to get revenge against someone who did you wrong.

That's also high school
These actions are typical of people of high school age and mental state.

I know I'll be graduating early
I am looking forward to completing high school early and moving to other things.

High school is like the state of the nation
High school reflects the state of affairs in the broader society.

Some people never change after graduation
People carry forward their high school behavior and mindset long after they graduate from high school.

Believing any light you shine makes theirs lesser
Other people believe that your success will take away their own success and status.

They have to prove to everyone that theirs is better
To maintain their status and reputation, people feel the need to keep proving themselves better than others.

And sadly (sadly) Some will be (some will be)
Unfortunately, some people never outgrow the need to prove themselves better and maintain popularity.

Doesn't mean we have to act like we're in high school
Even after high school, we don't have to follow the way people behave in high school.

We've all got bad yearbook photos
Everyone has photos in their yearbook that they are not proud of, showing a younger and awkward stage of their life.

Which we've forgot to let go
We forget to let go of some of our past behavior and mindset that we had in high school.

And just like acne our insecurity
Like acne, insecurity is an issue that hits most students in high school.

Should be something we left with the JV
We must consciously leave our insecurities behind and not let it affect our behavior and life beyond high school.

Things we kept that hold us down so
Things that we hold onto from high school can weigh us down emotionally, making it difficult to move ahead in life.

That was yesterday, there's always tomorrow
The past is behind us, what we do today and in the future is more important.

We are tomorrow, We are tomorrow
Young people are the future of society and what we do today will determine our future.

There'll always be, always be celebrities
There will always be someone who is considered cool and popular by everyone else.

Doesn't mean we have to act like we're in high school
Just because some people follow the high school culture, it doesn't mean that we should behave that way.
