Good
Supreme Beings Of Leisure Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I disagree with your philosophy
What kiled the cat's not curiosity?
And you know that I'll do it again
Yes you know that I'll do it again
And there's no stoppin' me my friend
Not this time

**I'll be good
I'll be good tomorrow
I'll be good
Another day

These palace walls are lined with excess
When wisdom calls I'm riding express
But I swear I won't do it again
No, I swear I won't do it again
And I promise this is the end
One last time

I take a bite
Open my eyes
Oh cover me
Yes I am naked

I've made my deals with moderation
But virtue's a fleeting fascination
Cuz I know that I'll do it again
Yes I know that I'll do it again

And it's silly for me to pretend
All this time

Overall Meaning

The song "Good" by Supreme Beings Of Leisure is about the struggle of maintaining self-control when it comes to vices or bad habits. The lyrics express the singer's disagreement with the philosophy of avoiding curiosity and taking risks. She believes that curiosity is not what killed the cat, and that she will continue to take risks, regardless of the consequences. However, she also acknowledges the harm that these actions can cause, and promises to be good and moderate herself in the future.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the singer's desire to be good, but not necessarily right away. Instead, she wants to delay her good behavior to another day or tomorrow. The verses express the singer's acknowledgement of excess and the difficulty of resisting the temptation to indulge. She promises that she won't repeat her mistakes, but also acknowledges the fleeting nature of virtue and how she knows that she will eventually give in again.

The line "I take a bite, open my eyes, oh cover me, yes I am naked" represents the singer's vulnerability and openness to experiencing her vices. It shows that she's not ashamed of her impulses, but rather acknowledges them and accepts them as part of who she is.

Overall, "Good" is a relatable song that speaks to the human struggle of self-control and moderation. It's an anthem for those who acknowledge their vices but still strive to be good.

I got to this group from a Sneaker Pimps station on Pandora

@Ghosty Bees that was a rerelease. I was around for the same name album. So basically, back in the day your first album was the name of your group. Nothing catchy just the band and good luck. They were robbed.

Imagine working in a music store in thw 1990s and feeling the same way. Damn shame 😑!

@grazinraisin Maybe in some areas, but I can fully understand how many have never heard of them. They weren't promoted anywhere that I've lived. It took me until 2008 to find out about them (right here on YT) and I love trip-hop, electronica, etc. Same applies to the band Syntax & their album Meccano Mind. These are tiny bands in the world of electronica ~ very little exposure at all.
