In 1996, Oversoul 7 came together as members Geri Soriano-Lightwood, Ramin Sakurai, (Bassist)) Kiran Shahani, and (Guitarist) Rick Torres released "Nothing Like Tomorrow" and "What's the Deal" on two compilations on the Moonshine Music dance label. After the Moonshine releases, Oversoul 7 signed a demo deal with A&M records recording demos of "Truth From Fiction", "Never the Same", and "Last Girl on Earth", all songs which ended up on the now classic "Supreme Beings of Leisure" debut album (released on Palm Pictures label).
The release of the first Supreme Beings of Leisure album sold over 250,000 units with very little promotional touring. Instead, SBL opted to use the internet to market and promote the album, becoming the first band ever to do a "Virtual Internet Tour", and was among the first to use Flash animation for their videos, making them the first true "Internet Band" of the new millennium.
After the release of their debut album, the group disbanded. The core duo of Soriano-Lightwood and Sakurai, however, released the second SBL album "Divine Operating System" shortly thereafter in 2002. In 2003, SBL left Palm Pictures, taking a three year hiatus, releasing various remixes and appearing on various other artists' albums. In 2006, Supreme Beings of Leisure started writing material which coalesced into a new album, the highly anticipated 11i.
Ride

The map you had but couldn't keep
Seems it's never as you planned
That's a lie you understand
Every fork in the road you choose
Some you win some you lose
It's all in the ride
For when you decide
It's all in the ride
Beauty's there it's deep inside
Drifting on a brilliant tide
It's all in the ride
It's all in the ride
The spell we're under it runs deep
Full of illusions that we keep
Seems it's only about time
And we are slaves caught in its chime
Every moment is only now
And future past is just a cloud
It's all in the ride
It's all in the ride
For when you decide
It's all in the ride
Beauty's there it's deep inside
Drifting on a brilliant tide
It's all in the ride
It's all in the ride
The lyrics of "Ride" by Supreme Beings Of Leisure carry a message of accepting the unpredictability of life. The verses describe the different situations that we encounter, where things don't always go as we planned. The walls we walk through in our sleep represent the subconscious barriers we create for ourselves. We have a map, but we cannot keep it, symbolizing the inevitability of change and the unknown. The chorus reassures us that all of these experiences are part of the ride, and that our focus should be on enjoying the journey rather than trying to control every aspect of our lives.
The second verse delves deeper into the illusion of time and how we are constantly imprisoned by its passing. The mention of every moment being only now emphasizes the importance of living in the present moment, rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the importance of embracing the ride, and that within it, we can find beauty and the brilliance of life.
Overall, "Ride" serves as an insightful reminder to let go of control and to enjoy all aspects of our journey in life.
