Somewhere Beyond The Sea
Susan Wong Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waitin' for me
My lover stands on golden sand
And watches the ships that go sailin'

Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watchin' for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailin'

It's far beyond the star
It's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon

We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be, beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailin'

***INSTRUMENTAL BREAK***

I know beyond a doubt,
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet, I know we'll meet
Beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be, beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailin'

(No more sailin')

(So long sailin')
(Byebye sailin')

Overall Meaning

The song, "Somewhere Beyond The Sea," sung by Susan Wong, is a tender love song, which speaks of a man's yearning and unquenchable desire to be reunited with his lover. The first two verses of the song title "Somewhere beyond the sea," refers to uncharted waters where, 'somewhere out there,' the singer believes his lover is waiting for him on the golden sand, watching the ships sailing by. The images of golden sand and sailing ships are presented in the song, as symbols of hope and possibility. For the singer, the sea is a vast and mysterious area, which represents the distance separating him from his lover.

The last two verses of the song express the singer’s hope that one day he will reunite with his love. He believes that their meeting will take place beyond the shore, a place where they will kiss, as they did before. The lyrics in these verses convey a sense of hope and optimism about the future, as the singer believes that his heart will lead him to his lover and, by extension, to the happiness that he is longing for.

Beautiful job. Thanks Susan

Yes. I agree with Ursugarspice that 'she' and 'her' should be changed to 'he' and 'him' respectively.. Everything else is perfect!
