Rinaldi was born in Buenos Aires. For eight years, beginning in 1949, she studied music at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música. In 1955 she entered the Escuela de Arte Dramático (School of Dramatic Arts), remaining there for two years. 1957 saw her debut on television and two years later she appeared on the stage in a major theater production. Her tango recording career began in 1966 when Rinaldi recorded her first album for Madrigal, an independent label. Over time her career as a tango singer was to eclipse her work as an actress, although she continued to appear in film, TV and theater.
Rinaldi and her husband, bandoneon musician Osvaldo Piro, opened the cafe-concert Magoya in Mar del Plata in 1971.
In 1976, with Argentina under a new military dictatorship, she made her debut in Paris, the city where she ended up living from 1989 and from where she would become one of the most important voices of international tango.
Rinaldi is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
Los mareados
Susana Rinaldi Lyrics

Como encendida
Te halle bebiendo
Linda y fatal.
Bebias
Y en el fragor del champagne
Loca reias
Pena
Me dio encontrarte
Pues al mirarte
Yo vi mujer brillar tus ojos
Con un electrico ardor
Tus bellos ojos que tanto adore.
Esta noche
Amiga mia
El alcohol nos ha embriagado
Que me importa que se rian
Y nos llamen los mareados
Cada cual tiene sus penas
Y nosotros las tenemos
Esta noche beberemos
Porque ya no volveremos
A vernos mas.
Hoy vas a entrar en mi pasado
En el pasado de mi vida
Tres cosas lleva el alma herida
Amor, pesar, dolor.
Hoy vas a entrar en mi pasado
Hoy nuevas sendas tomaremos
Que grande ha sido nuestro amor
Y sin embargo, ay, mira lo que quedo.
The lyrics of Susana Rinaldi’s song “Los Mareados” reflect the tragedy of two individuals who encounter each other in the midst of their own personal turmoil. The opening lines “Rara Como encendida, Te halle bebiendo, Linda y fatal” (Strange, like you were on fire, I found you drinking, beautiful and fatal) paint the image of a woman who is both mysterious and alluring, caught up in the throes of intoxication. However, despite her levity, there is an underlying sense of sadness in her laughter, as suggested by the line “Loca reias, Por no llorar” (You were laughing crazily, So as not to cry).
The singer expresses a sense of sadness upon seeing her, as he knows that her eyes, which he once adored so much, are now filled with an electric intensity that suggests her inner pain. “Pena Me dio encontrarte, Pues al mirarte, Yo vi mujer brillar tus ojos Con un electrico ardor, Tus bellos ojos que tanto adore” (I felt sorrow upon finding you, For when I looked at you, I saw a woman with an electric intensity shining in your eyes, Your beautiful eyes which I once adored). The two individuals find solace in alcohol as they both have their own personal sorrows to contend with. The final lines “Hoy vas a entrar en mi pasado, Hoy nuevas sendas tomaremos, Que grande ha sido nuestro amor Y sin embargo, ay, mira lo que quedo” (Today you will enter into my past, Today we will take new paths, How great our love has been And yet, look at what remains) reflect their mutual acknowledgement that their past romance has come to an end, and what remains is only heartache.

Mi versión favorita de esta canción. Me hace llorar cada vez que la escucho. Nunca voy a olvidar el cuampleaños en que mi padre me llevó a ver a esta diosa de la música y tuve la oportunidad de verla en vivo regalarnos esta canción. Unica e irrepetible
