This is a time of growth for those that know

In the past, people have paved the way, and we must follow in their footsteps to uncover the truth.

So control it's sickening; Most just sit and stare
The desire for control is nauseating, and many are passive and uninvolved.

At a television with a distant glare
Many are distracted by the unrealities presented through media.

And I'm ashamed to admit it, I'm a slave to the shit
I am ashamed to acknowledge that I, too, am a victim of the entertainment industry.

As much as anybody but I'm not afraid of it
Like most people, I am affected, but I am not frightened of the truth.

This is where the change comes in, this is where we make some difference
This is where we can effect change and make a difference if we act.

Embrace what's within us; And escape from this prison
We must embrace our true selves and break free from what's holding us back.

All it takes is a little bit of faith
Believing in ourselves and our ability to make change can go a long way.

And a little bit of love to get rid of all the hate
Love can overcome hatred and negativity.

But the thing about it is we can't just sing about it
Talking and singing about issues is not enough, action must be taken.

We can't just sit around and wait until they fit us out
We must be proactive and not wait until it's too late.

We figure out where we're goin' while we live in doubt
While we may not be certain, we must plan and move forward with our goals.

If you want my truth, listen now, we'll just think about it
My opinion is that we must contemplate and reflect on the situation at hand.

Can't afford a minutes time to figure how to bring about a change so
We can't waste any time, we must actively seek change.

Take a second and shake your head and then
We must question what we have been taught and what we accept as truth.

Take a step ahead and think about it
Then we must take action and push for change.

Now the ball is in our court while we sit and watch passively
We are in control but are passive in our approach.

The face of the earth changes drastically after we
Our actions have an impact, and we must be mindful of that.

Clear space at this rate for strip malls and factories
We are sacrificing nature and green space for commercial development.

We risk take a cruel fate at a pace beyond gradually
Our rapid development risks a disastrous outcome.

No more crops for us to harvest and feed
Our disregard for nature and the environment could lead to food scarcity.

Self-seficiency replaced by clone copy-written seeds
We are becoming dependent on unsustainable and artificial food sources.

Now ask yourself how can we be free
We must question what freedom really means in our society.

When the water that we drink is owned by some company
Our basic needs are being controlled and monopolized.

I hear the weap of the streets and cry's of the skies
I hear the pain and suffering of society through the sounds of the city and the natural world.

See weakness disguised as disceiptful lies
I see the vulnerabilities of people and how they are exploited through deceit and manipulation.

But we all lead to survive; And sleep through our lives
We all struggle to survive, but we often become numb and complacent in our struggle.

Weedin' for highs, all sheep and no pride
We are all searching for happiness and fulfillment, but many become passive and lose their sense of self.

Never speak of a lie; I let the fear fortify
We often accept lies instead of speaking the truth out of fear of retaliation.

My inside's'll die tryin' to fit in the design
We feel pressure to conform to society's expectations, even if it means sacrificing our true selves.

I'm reminded daily of world gone crazy
We are constantly confronted by the chaos and insanity of the world around us.

Guns mean safety for orphan babies
We often think of extreme measures as necessary to protect the vulnerable.

Ignore the distortion, you're forced to perceive and believe
We are bombarded with misinformation and lies, and we must learn to discern truth from falsehood.

What's supersede's as love but who agrees
We often prioritize things that are superficial over genuine love and connection.

You survive in the wild with a wife and child
We must contemplate what really matters in life and what is truly necessary for survival.

Our whole human history's a line, a type and a file
Our history is a story that has been written, sorted, and categorized for us.

So live your life in denial, and try to live on your own
We can choose to live in denial and isolation or confront the reality of the world around us.

Without ya colour t.v., heat, a friend or the phone
We often rely on material possessions and technology for comfort and connection instead of genuine relationships.

While the average guy lives an elaborate life
We often compare ourselves to others and feel inferior because we lack their material privileges.

Waits days a slave wage beneathe a passionate eye
The average person works tirelessly for minimal pay and recognition.

Now we ovulate, copulate and overpopulate
Our population is growing at an unsustainable rate.

Never stop to think about the things that we were taught to hate
We must question what we have been taught to hate and whether those biases are justified.

Now the stage is set, watch the players place their bets
We are at a critical point, watching as powerful people and institutions make decisions that will impact us all.

Take a sec, shake ya head, feel alive, make em' sweat
We must take a moment to reflect, feel alive, and take action to push for change.

Realize that the system can't exist with out belief
We must recognize that the system and its power structures only exist because people believe in them.

Appreciate ya true potential, un-twist your mouth and speak
We must recognize our potential and use our voices and actions to make a difference.

We're workin' on buildin' a world our children can live
We must work together to create a better world for future generations to live in.

Understand I can't be free while your still in this prison
We must recognize that we are all connected, and someone else's suffering impacts us all.

And I can spend my days preaching as so on and so forth
Talking about these issues is important, but it's not enough on its own.

But it won't change 'til we don't want to go on no more
Change will only occur when we refuse to accept the status quo and push for something better.
