Giovanni Escalera forma un concepto de música electrónica Mexicana que mezcla los sonidos sintéticos de computadoras y sintetizadores con elementos orgánicos que pueden variar desde secciones de cuerdas, guitarras acústicas o distorsionadas, timbales, arrabal mayormente aderezados con vocales femeninas, dando lugar a un sonido electromexicano bailable llamado Sweet Electra; quienes EMI MUSIC/Nopal Beat lanzan al grupo con su primer material discográfico denominado “Lying to be sweet”con el que spn recibidos no sólo en México sino también en Estados Unidos, Cuba y Europa, además de contar con la colaboración del DJ David Alvarado, quién aporta con un remix del tema “firefly” primer sencillo de la banda.
Posteriormente producen su segundo disco “Cama” en 2006, mismo que incluye el sencillo “Shadow” tema principal de la película Eros Una Vez María, dirigida por Jesús Magaña y protagonizada por Ana Serradilla y Julio Bracho. En el proyecto se integra la cantante Nardiz Cooke y colaboran la cantante Cecilia Bastida (Tijuanan No) y Sakiko Yocko.
La tercer producción la realizan tras mudarse a la ciudad de Nueva York dándole el título “When We Abandoned Earth” 2009. A su vez, en la ciudad de México, el sencillo “Love you more”, se posiciona en el lugar No. 1 por tres semanas consecutivas en la estación de radio especializada en música electrónica BEAT 100.9FM y ese mismo año son nominados en DJ Concept Music Awards como grupo electrónico del año. Finalmente el LP se asocia al EP de remixes “When We Remixed Earth” 2010 un compilado de temas remezclados por DJ’s mexicanos.
Sweet Electra ha participado en diversos foros, por mencionar algunos; Romerías de Mayo en Cuba, Festival Vive Latino en la ciudad de México y DJ Moto (Motorola) en varias ciudades de México y países de Europa además de ser el artista principal en el festival Celebrate México Now en Nueva York en el 2009. Diversos tracks han sido incluidos en distintas compilaciones alrededor del mundo en países como Sudáfrica, España, Alemania y Japón (por mencionar algunos) además de figurar en charts de radio y ser remezclados por DJ`s y productores de la talla de Ben Watt, EBGT (Everything But The Girl), David Alvarado y Wally López. Giovanni E también conocido por sus remixes y DJ set, ha elaborado remezclas para artistas como Cecilia Bastida, Klaus & Kinski, Nadadora, Shock Bukara, Polka Madre, y ha compuesto música para cine mexicano.
When we remixed earth (2010) es el título de éste EP que cierra el fin del ciclo de When We Abandoned Earth.
