Everything Will Be Alright
Sweet Water Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

[Chorus:]
Everything will be alright (everything will be just fine)
Everything will be just fine (everything will be alright)
Everything will be alright (everything will be just fine)
Everything will be just fine (everything will be alright)

Windows and your doors are closed
Seeing the world in black and white
Still singing the same old song
Don't know where you went wrong
Life is just the way it's always been

Three days, and forty miles away
Are the roads that life goes
Can't buy the way I've found
I want you here around
In the end, after all the cops are down

[Chorus]

It'll be alright
It'll be alright
It'll be alright
And this is why
I don't trust myself with you
And this is why
I'm paying tomorrow

No, no those tears won't come
Well I'm so cold, cold
Tears won't come, no
Alright
No, no those tears won't come, no
I'm so cold, cold my tears won't come

My tears won't come
I'm so cold, my tears won't come
I'm so cold, my tears won't come

Overall Meaning

The chorus of this song repeats multiple times throughout, reassuring the listener that everything will be alright and just fine. The verses explore the struggles of life and the difficulty of being vulnerable with someone else. The first verse paints a picture of feeling closed off from the world, seeing everything in black and white, and feeling like you cannot change your situation. The second verse talks about the uncertainty of life and how there are many paths one can take. However, the singer knows what they want and that is to have their loved one in their life through thick and thin.

The bridge of the song is introspective, with the singer saying they do not trust themselves with their loved one and that they will pay for it tomorrow. This suggests a fear of vulnerability and a reluctance to fully commit. The song ends with a repetition of the phrase "My tears won't come," which could signify the pain of holding back your emotions and not allowing yourself to fully experience life's ups and downs.

Overall, the song provides comfort and encouragement to listeners who may be going through a tough time. It acknowledges that life can be difficult and uncertain, but emphasizes the importance of staying positive and hopeful.

One of the best bands to come out of Seattle ...Seattle rules musically

@satgill3308

Went to see Saigon Kick in Vancouver around late 92 and Sweet Water opened for them. They blew my mind! Picked up their album the next day. Sweet Water should have been one of the bigger bands out of the 90’s. They had the songs and killed it live.

@sweetwaterrocks

right on !

@markrichardson4336

Saw them live multiple times in Spokane "Outbacks" best small venue live band experience I ever had! Still have one of their shirts. Alice in Chains and Pearl jam can suck it! Lol though I was a Soundgarden man, these guys had the best energy live in those fun days of the 90s. Great memories of those shoes!

@ItIsMyFavorite

I saw comments were super old and I just want to say that these guys rocked it back in the day and I saw them again later in life and they freakin killed it again. Legit great band and one of the better live bands you will ever see. My two cents.....

This song got some play on KISW back then and made me a fan. "Head Down" too. Great songs that still sound excellent today.
