Although the project released four singles in the mid '90s, with initial singers Kimberley Kearney and Dacia Bridges, worldwide success came with third vocalist, Tina Harris. Everything's Gonna Be Alright was released in 1997, which topped charts around the world and started a musical theme, sampling classical music, which the project would later become known for.
Tina Harris left after two years, with Jade Villalon replacing her as the fourth vocalist with five original albums, all reaching Gold or Platinum in Korea. Villalon, along with "Geo" left the project after seven years to go on and do other projects.
Vocalist Jamie Pineda took the role as new vocalist shortly after in late 2007 and then releasing her first studio album The Next Generation in 2009, which was produced by Derek Bramble. Pineda released one more album, Diamond Veil in 2011 and it was released in Japan and Korea, as the 8th studio album from Sweetbox.
In 2013, famed Japanese singer Miho Fukuhara became the new frontwoman and for the first time in the projects history, male vocalist/rapper LogiQ Pryce would co-front the project with her. The studio album, titled #Zeitgeist21 is due for release in July 2013.

Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Let me stay up late just to watch the fight late night
Mama acting all tight, friday night
And it's on at midnight right
Freaky-deaky on the sneaky tip is live tonight
'Cause ain't nobody gonna stop me from gettin'mine
And on time I'll be back, before the egg's over easy
Sh..., it's just simple and easy
I don't care what mama fears
I don't care what papa says
This is my life, let go I've got to live, yeah
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Uh, daddy's little girl, I wanna rule the world
Bad Boys, skateboards and no more geri curls
It hurts you wanna make it worse, wear a purse
Little girls don't curse
You know we heard it first
From our mamas and our daddy's
Every weekend while they think we're sleepin'
They'd be freakin'
Ain't no stoppin' me now, my bodyguard's asleep
Watch me now as I creep
I don't care what mama fears
I don't care what papa says
This is my life, let go I've got to live
Yeah yeah
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Oh yeah, I am a big girl now
Let me show you how
Turn me in and out
And let me know what you about
But first let me take you on a joy ride
Mama taught me how to work it right all night
Keep it tight, naughty girls get hype
The party's lastin'all night
We get up, we don't fight
We get down, turn it all around
Blow in your face
No doubt, naughty girls in the place
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
Papa should have told me
Mama should have warned me
Daddy, let me do what I like
The lyrics to Sweetbox's song "Mama Papa" are about a young girl's desire to live her life and have fun, despite her parents' objections. In the first verse, she repeats the phrase "Papa should have told me, Mama should have warned me," indicating that her parents did not properly prepare her for the difficulties she may face in life. The girl then asserts her independence, saying that she wants to do what she likes and stay up late to watch the fight.
The second verse continues with the theme of rebellion, as the girl asserts that she wants to rule the world and do things her own way. She is unfazed by her parents' warnings and instead chooses to take risks and live in the moment. The chorus repeats the idea that her parents should have warned her but ultimately she is in charge of her own life and wants to make her own choices.
Overall, the lyrics of "Mama Papa" highlight the tension between parents who want to protect their children and the desire of their children to assert their independence and live life on their own terms.
