You Find It Everywhere
Swervedriver Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You find it here
You find it everywhere
It's always there
I'm drivin' everywhere

Beyond the glare
There's burnin' everywhere
We stop and stare
I'm falling every stair

So take me there
I really just don't care
Down at the fair
We'll find them everywhere

The clothes you wear
You find them everywhere
The profit's there
They're buyin' every share

You find it here
You find it everywhere

It's always there
I'm striving every stair

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Swervedriver's song "You Find It Everywhere" have a poetic quality that offers a unique interpretation to the listener. The song is generally seen as a commentary on the overwhelming ubiquity of consumer culture and capitalism, with the lyrics suggesting that it is difficult to escape the pervasive influence of these forces. The repeated phrase "You find it here, you find it everywhere, it's always there" is a reminder of the pervasive influence of consumer culture, and how it has permeated every aspect of our lives.

Beyond the superficial layer of the lyrics, a deeper meaning can be derived. The chorus line "I'm falling every stair" suggests an individual who is lost and helpless, searching for a way out of the never-ending cycle of consumerism. The line "So take me there, I really just don't care" represents a surrender to the forces of consumerism, and a desire to be carried away by material possessions. The hauntingly beautiful melody of the song emphasizes this sense of being lost in a maze of modernity and consumerism.

In conclusion, Swervedriver's song "You Find It Everywhere" is an anthem for those who feel trapped by the pervasive commodification of modern society. The lyrics and melody of the song are a piercing reminder of the dangers of consumerism and the need for us to forge our own paths in the world, free from the influence of material possessions and corporate interests.

The bass in this album made the whole album special.

@Wolfdragon92584

What's amazing is they didn't even have a bassist when recording this album. The bass lines are very practical and thoughtful.

@MrMookRecords

very much so.. especially on Duel and Blowin Cool.... Not forgetting that that bass riff in Blowin Cool and the surf guitar riff in Last Train To Satanville are some of the best ever... even the B-sides on the Duel 12" were pure class
