What makes this song interesting is it almost completely relies on the use of a strong refrain that contrasts heavily with the melody. Each chorus seems to be missing a conclusion, which leaves you anticipating closure throughout the song. This is delivered as a climax after the obligatory sax bridge.
Swing Out Sister continue to develop their passion for jazz and routinely demonstrate a high level of versatility and competence across the genre, but have since moved away from perky pop hits into more of a lounge style.

Lying behind a smile
Tears for sentiment
Now I've done my time
You filled my head with your opinions
Blind to your lies I listened
For that sweet surrender
You'll get what you deserve
Hiding behind a lie
Revenge says more than words
You'll pay for your crime
I fooled myself you'd change your ways
Blind to your lies I listened
Still waiting for love to take revenge (revenge)
For that sweet surrender
Still waiting for love to take revenge
For that sweet surrender
Still waiting for love to take revenge
For that sweet surrender
Still waiting for love to take revenge (revenge)
For that sweet surrender
Still waiting for love to take revenge
For that sweet surrender
Still waiting for love to take revenge (revenge)
Still waiting for love
Still waiting for love to take revenge
Waiting for love from heaven
Still waiting for love to take revenge
Still waiting for love
To take revenge
Sweet revenge
Waiting for love from heaven

You know, class never goes out of style. More than 30 years after its initial release, this music still sounds relevant. What's incredible about this music is you cannot tell WHEN it was released.
Swing Out Sister’s music has always had jazz overtones, so their songs never goes out of style. Just like jazz music.
I can imagine lead singer Corinne Drewery being an updated jazz chanteuse a la Billie Holiday when she reaches late middle age.
And yes, I can picture her singing jazz standards just like the jazz greats of yester year.

Sophisticated and elegant 80's music.

Corrine, Basia and Sade. They gave off the same cool groovy vibe back in the 80s. Made you want to slowly dance your way across the room every time you hear their music.
