Sworn Vengeance Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Sworn Vengeance's song "Weakness" touch upon the theme of survival in a world that is plagued by suffering, death, and uncertainty. The opening line suggests that death is a certainty, and life itself is an uncertain proposition. The singer seems to have reached a point of resignation, realizing that decay is the natural end to life. However, instead of succumbing to weakness, the singer chooses to embrace strength and resilience. The blackness that fills the broken soul seems to refer to the darkness and bleakness that permeate life. The singer realizes that man's spoiled imperfection has burrowed into their very being, forcing them to open their eyes to the harsh realities of life.
The lyrics talk about drowning in the blood of the innocent and living in the graves of the dead, highlighting the horrors of war and violence. The weak are portrayed as choosing suicide, addiction, and blind faith in a God that sacrifices its own kind. The singer, however, refuses to submit to weakness and crutches. They place their faith in their strength and their ability to control their own destiny. The lyrics suggest that hate, fear, and displays of power are necessary to survive in this world, which is a bleak and brutal place.
The chorus reiterates the singer's stance on survival, emphasizing that they need no substance, God or crutch to make it through this life. The singer relies on no one, and nothing, except their own strength. They will not submit to anyone or anything that tries to force them down. The song's final lines suggest that the singer is unbreakable - the hardships of life will not break them down.
