Sydney Devine (born Cleland, Lanarkshire 1940 - 13th February 2021) was a Scot and' it's very own rhinestone cowboy, a singer whose career began with a television appearance in 1953 at the age of thirteen, developed during eight years touring with the White Heather Group. When visiting Hawaii with Andy Stewart's band, he heard the Hawaiian singer Don Ho perform Tiny Bubbles; this became Devine's signature tune and he went on to sell fifteen million albums. His record sales were revived in December 2005 when a frothy drink making machine was advertised on television using Don Ho's version of Tiny Bubbles. YUP

He is sometimes referred to as 'Steak and Kidney',

Sydney has a lot of cool very sad songs,...He is a legend here in scotland and plays at the pavillion theatre every year to sell out crowds ....listen to the lyrics of his songs ..unless your on diazipam ....lov u steak n kidney

My mum used to have this on an album of Sidney Devine, choc full of equally morbid songs. "Old Shep", "I'm not crying mister, i've got something in my eye". My mum passed four days ago, thanks for helping with the grieving.

when I was 5 I learned that song, and my teacher made me sing it, at the end of the song my whole class was crying... All the versions on YouTube of this song aren't as sad as I can sing it, and I'm not gona put my version on YouTube, noway. even though it would be AMAZING to make people cry with my voice, I haven't done it in a long time, well 7 years out of my 13.
