Qui traverse les rideaux
Chante un oiseau
Effleurant d'une plume
Quelques touches de piano
Chante un oiseau
Qui fait comme ça
Tip tip tip tip tip tip tip
Quand il voit que mon cur
Est en tous petits morceaux
Pleure l'oiseau
En m'offrant une fleur
Dérobée sur un chapeau
Chante l'oiseau
Qui fait comme ça
Tip tip tip tip tip tip tip
Tip tip tip tip tip tip tip
Puis il prend son essor
Vers les arbres d'un tableau
Vole l'oiseau
Et moi je me rendors
Entendrai-je encore bientôt
Chanter l'oiseau
Qui fait comme ça ?
The lyrics of Sylvie Vartan's song "L'Oiseau" describe a moment when a bird sings on a moonbeam that passes through the curtains. It touches the keys of the piano with its feathers and sings its song, "Tip tip tip tip tip tip tip." The bird notices that the singer's heart is broken into tiny pieces and cries, offering her a flower that it has stolen from a hat. Then, the bird takes flight towards trees in a painting and the singer goes back to sleep, wondering if she will ever hear the bird's song again.
The song touches on themes of nature and emotions. The bird is a symbol of freedom, innocence, and joy, while the moonbeam and the piano represent beauty and artistry. The singer's heartbreak is softened by the bird's song and the flower it brings, showing that even in difficult times, there is still beauty to be found in the world.

So glad to see such entertaining footage even as she has to pretend that she has background scenery! I've been playing the recent RPM release on Sylvie quite a bit lately and this is one of the many favorites on that disc. Very glad to see this here. Merci!
