Arise
Sympathy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The will, not to conform
Any longer to this world
The will, to be transformed
By renewal of the mind

The setting apart
In an age of sin
Sanctifying work
In the believer's heart

No longer to conform
To the patterns of sin
We will rise above the world
And its evil ways

Arise
Arise

His Church
Arise

Overall Meaning

The song "Arise" by Sympathy is a call to Christians to break away from the patterns of sin and to be transformed by renewing their minds. The will mentioned in the lyrics is the determination to no longer conform to the sinful ways of the world and to be set apart for God's sanctifying work within the believer's heart. The message is clear that it is time for the Church to rise up and separate themselves from the evil ways of the world.

The song speaks to the current state of society where sin seems to be prevalent and normal, the message is that now is the time for the Church to take a stand and be separated from the patterns of sin. The use of the word 'pattern' implies that sin has a routine that can be broken, and it is up to the individual believer to make that change. The repetition of the word 'Arise' is a call to action, to get up and move forward towards righteousness.

In essence, the song is a message of hope and encouragement to Christians to keep the faith and stand strong in their conviction to follow Christ's teachings.

@@AnthroArcade Yes, and Ha-Satan was typically reserved primarily for THE Angel of Death, Samael in Talmudic lore, who also planted the Tree of Knowledge, was banished for it, and manifested as a serpent, tempting Adam and Eve to sin (and eventually copulating with Eve to conceive Cain)

In a sense, Samael is the original "villain" in Abrahamic religions, however he is not a true villain, he is still an agent of God. And thus is more in line of the original concept of Satan (being a separate entity from Lucifer who tempts people to Sin, a tester of Faith if you will)

So in a Abrahamic sense, Samael is technically the reason why we have free will.

Unfortunately due to poorly conceived beliefs, and people's tendency to disconnect and misunderstand things, Samael and Lucifer has been merged one entity in some circles to the point where a TV show basically has them as the same entity rather than the two separate ones they 'actually' are

Note: I'm not a Christian, Jew or Muslim.
