Stillborn
System Syn Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Dissolve in to the silence
Conceived here just for you
Abandon everything
The stillborn future only we will know
And there'll be no one left to comfort you
In my head and in my hands
Punishing myself for guilt that should be yours
The first verse in System Syn's song Stillborn is a representation of giving up everything and breaking away from the world. The song talks about dissolving into silence and abandoning everything as a way of separating oneself from the chaos and noise of the world. The line "Conceived here just for you" may possibly be an allusion to the idea that the world was created just for human beings. However, instead of being grateful for the gift or blessing, the person in the lyrics sees it as a curse that they want to escape from.
The second verse, on the other hand, talks about accepting the consequences of one's actions. The stillborn future mentioned is a representation of failure and the consequence of not making the right choices. The line "And there'll be no one left to comfort you" depicts the idea that when you make the wrong choices, there will be no one to support you, and you will have to deal with your failures alone. The third and last verse, "I have shattered all the bones I can, in my head and in my hands, punishing myself for guilt that should be yours", depicts a person who is dealing with guilt over somebody else's mistakes.
Overall, Stillborn is a song that tackles the theme of acceptance, guilt, and failure. The lyrics are open to interpretation, and the song can be understood in many ways. It's a powerful and emotional song that touches on the inner turmoil that we all face at some point in our lives.
