I'm alone, sitting with my broken glass
My four walls follow me through my past
I was on a paris train
I emerged in london rain
And you were waiting there
Swimming through apologies
I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind
I remember a soldier standing next to me
Riding on the metro
I was smiling as you took my hand
Saw the moon, we spoke in france
You were passed the shallow words
Years have passed and still the hurt
You were passed with shallow words
Years have passed and still the hurt
I can see you now
Smiling as you pulled away
Sorry
I remember the letter wrinkled in my hand
"I'll love you always" filled my eyes
I remember the night we walked along the Seine
Riding on the metro
I remember a feeling coming over me
The soldier turned and walked away

Fuck you for loving me
Riding on the metro

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Metro" by System of a Down take the listeners on a journey through memories and emotions. The song is about a person who is alone, sitting with a broken glass, and the four walls around him/her remind him/her of the past. The singer then reminisces about a trip from Paris to London, where he/she met someone who he/she was searching for the perfect words to impress. However, he/she couldn't convince that person to change their mind. Amidst all this, the singer remembers a soldier standing next to him/her on the metro. As the singer is still stuck in the hurt, he/she also remembers the night they walked along the Seine and how the soldier turned and walked away. In the end, the singer says, "Fuck you for loving me" while riding on the metro.

It seems the song is about unrequited love or failed attempts at fixing a broken relationship. The singer is stuck in the past, surrounded by the memories, and trying to move on. The juxtaposition of the Soldier and the love interest highlights the personal turmoil between memories of love and war. The haunting musicality of the song adds to the sense of melancholy the lyrics convey, emphasizing the singer's sense of isolation.

I still recommend to read the books. The first game is shockingly accurate to the book, but it's a ton of fun to re experience those events through the original words because the author really did an incredible job. The Library had me just as on edge in the book as it did in the game.

I feel like during a nuclear winter launching more nukes wouldn't sound as bad as now, I mean how many would think it could get that much worse. I know I don't see a huge downside making radioactive land a bit more radioactive.

I was fortunate to get the original metro 2033 for free then getting the rest of the games at a sale.

The orginal had problems. The way I fix the problem with say screen tearing was going to the nivida control and setting vsyn and triple buffering. Actually this work with the stalker games as well. But I have to say aside a few minor problems the orginals atmosphere and level select is better.

You know you love a game series when you've played all the games and then watch a 3 hour video retrospective about it

I always felt that Last Light’s “Call of Duty” feel was justified with character development for Artyom. Like in the first game we see Artyom transform from frail to powerful, but Last light just felt like a further emphasis on Artyom’s now famous courageous and “movie like” bravery. It all just reinforced Artyom’s character development for me.
