I'll Get By
Systematic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Free from insanity
Dirt is all I need
A love for apathy
I'll do it every night, till I get it right
I'll get by
I'll do it every time, never compromise
I'll get by
I get by
Don't come to my door
Your talk is such a bore
Don't need company
My vice is all I need
I'll play with all my sins
Indulge myself again
Need not you or me
So just leave me be
The song "I'll Get By" by Systematic has a rather somber and introspective tone. The lyrics hint at a desire to retreat from society and its expectations, seeking solace in one's own vices and sins. The opening lines have the singer declaring their intention to "lock myself away," seeking to separate themselves from the craziness of the world outside. They express a preference for simplicity and dirtiness, suggestive of a rejection of the trappings of modern life. The song highlights a love of apathy, tapping into a sense of resignation or detachment.
The chorus of the song repeats the titular phrase "I'll get by," suggesting a sense of determination and survival instinct. The repetition of this phrase highlights the singer's resilience, willing to do whatever it takes to come out okay on the other side. There is an element of defiance in these lines, a refusal to compromise or let anyone else dictate the terms of their existence. The final lines of the song emphasize this once more, with the singer insisting that they don't need anyone else and are content to indulge their own desires.
Overall, the song "I'll Get By" by Systematic has a melancholy but determined edge. It speaks to a desire for isolation and a connection to one's own basic needs, while also emphasizing an inner resilience and self-sufficiency.
