(Let's get 'em, Mary)
Don't forget to remember me
(Hey, hey, hey, hey, don't forget shawty, hey)
I'll be back so remember me
(Hey, hey, hey, so remember this)
Please keep me in your mind if we ever have to part
Don't forget to remember me
Ay, the king, modern day Martin Luther, Malcom X
I'm officially the freshest, don't dare forget
I'm gone momentarily, don't bury me, yet
Like Ali got, I got tha title back, prepare for that
When the world needed to ask where he was at
But when he need somethin' back, fade to black
Talking behind his back, you a hater for that
I don't expect nothin' less in the game of chess
You think five moves ahead and not behind
Jumped up, cheered when I got my time
Like yeah, one whole year I got in the grind
But get me losin' off your mind
Shawty, may I remind you that there ain't another
Who done been through what I been through
Time after time again you better get some in you
When you said it was over for him
And you thought he couldn't continue to floss
Here's to your memory loss, sucker
Don't forget to remember me
(Ah, don't forget shawty)
I'll be back so remember me
(Hey, don't forget shawty, ya, ya, remember this shawty)
Please keep me in your mind if we ever have to part
(Hey, hey, hey, so don't forget shawty)
Don't forget to remember me
They say outta sight's out of mind
And nine times out of ten, me and out of pocket out of line
You do it big, everybody that you out shined
Then your old lady fate talk 'bout how she got fine
She say she was tryin' to get away, he say about time
Right now we all thinkin', damn hopin' not mine
But when it's lights out for you and you're locked down
Ain't no tellin' whether or not your lady when and got down
With that crawl town 'cause he hot now
Rippin' up your love letters, liftin' up her night gown
Right now somebody baby momma gettin' piped down
Kids in the next room listenin', momma pipe down
The thought hurt, don't it? But maybe she's strong enough for it
Or ain't get that lonely 'cause you wasn't gone long enough
Trump, it's just a temporarily setback
It's on when I get back, please don't forget that
Don't forget to remember me
(So don't forget, shawty)
I'll be back so remember me
(Ya, hey, it's the king, bitch!)
Please keep me in your mind if we ever have to part
(Hey, hey, hey, don't forget shawty)
Don't forget to remember me
(Drop it, Mary)
I don't mean to feel like this, don't mean to think like this
My heart just has to be sure
That the love that I give to you, that's the love I get from you
I need to be safe and secure
(Hey, hey, just let me know you're thinking about me)
Don't forget to remember me
(Hey, hey, hey, don't forget shawty)
I'll be back so remember me
(Hey, don't forget shawty, hey, what's on your mind, shawty?)
Please keep me in your mind if we ever have to part
(Hey, hey, hey, don't forget shawty)
Don't forget to remember me
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Hey, just a friendly message for everybody in American
Who thought I was gon' fail
Partner, it's a year and a day and counting, you understand that?
By the time you hear this, I'll pro'ly be halfway home
Now remember that, suckas
In the song "Remember Me" by T.I. featuring Mary J. Blige, T.I. first reminds listeners to remember him no matter where he goes, as he will return shortly. He then proceeds to rap about his struggles and how people undermined him during his times of adversity. T.I compares himself to great leaders like Martin Luther King Jr, Malcom X, and Ali, and takes pride in his achievements, warning people not to forget him. He asserts that the game of chess and life both require forward thinking, and people need to be cautiously optimistic about their future. T.I. then reflects on infidelity, betrayal, and the unpredictability of life. He urges people to stay strong for themselves and their loved ones and not get distracted by greed or selfishness. Throughout the song, Mary J. Blige provides the backing vocals, adding depth to the song's emotional range.
