I’ve ghosted ppl because I had to do a lot of learning about myself. I realize that I’m not ready right now and it was very hard for me to articulate that to those ppl because of what I was saying to myself “what if they don’t believe you” what if they’re rude to you” (I’ve had this happen to me before) also some ppl won’t just let you go. So it’s def more reasons as to why ppl ghost ppl. And part of me healing is also realizing that it ain’t always about me. Life is hard man.

Treating people the way you want to be treated is a basic kindness and the very least anyone can do to be respectful. That doesn't mean since you don't care if someone ghosts you, you can treat others that way because that's how you like to be treated. It means if you want respect, give respect. It literally costs you nothing and takes nothing away from you as an adult to offer the respect and dignity others deserve. If my grandmother expects to be greeted when I walk in the door, my mood doesn't matter. She feels disrespected if I walk past her and say nothing. I can have my mood, still say hello, and carry on with my mood. If you need to ghost but you know the recipient values communication, give that, then bounce. Be better, do better.

I think people ghost so they can pop up later and give whatever excuse to make you more inclined to let them back in your life. This doesn’t just have to be romantic. I had a friendship with someone who I talked to every single day for hours for damn near a year and one day they didn’t call nor did they answer when I called. It went from one day to 6 months. Out of nowhere they popped up with a “I was going through life, blah, blah.” When I told them how hurt I was they flipped it on me like “why would you assume we weren’t friends, the world doesn’t revolve around you blah blah blah!’

I almost felt bad but then I realized I could not see someone call and text me for 6 months straight asking if I were ok and alive AND never say a single world. Needless to say, me and this person are no longer friends. They’re actually blocked. You don’t ghost people you care about, so it made me realize they didn’t care at all.

My first thought reading this was...thats bullshit!(on your behalf...) then i realized that at some point you became so dependent on what you got from that experience that you chose to be mad at that person for not "showing up" in a manner that was conducive for your day to day. Not only is that not fair...but you became more controlling than you chose to try to be aware of. Everything happens for a reason...just not for the reason YOU want when YOU want it...

That's why I never raised my voice when I'm having trouble with customer service. Once you show anger, they will shut down on you. Especially in the medical field
