Fall in Love
T. Blackmore Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I just can't help falling in love with you)
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I say would it be a sin
(Be a sin)
If I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows (Oh)
To the sea (Oh)
So it goes
Some things are meant to be
Some things are meant to be

Take my hand (take my hand)
Take my whole life too (life too)
For I can't help falling in love with you
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I, I can't, I can't help
Falling in love (falling in love) With you (with you)
Like a river flows (Oh)
To the sea (Oh)
So it goes
Some things are meant to be
Some things are meant to be

Like a river flows
That's the way it goes
I just can't help fallin' in love with you
(Fallin' in love with you)
Like a river flows (yea yea)
That's the way it goes(cause I can't)
Fallin' in love with you
Like a river flows (I just can't help myself)
That's the way it goes
I can't help falling in love with you

(I can't help falling in love with you)
Fallin' in love with you

Overall Meaning

The song "Fall in Love" by T. Blackmore is a classic love ballad that speaks of the strong feelings and attraction that one person can have towards another. The song begins with the wise saying that only a fool would rush into love, but the singer acknowledges that they cannot help falling in love with their significant other. The singer questions if it would be a sin to feel love so strongly, implying that their love may be forbidden but irresistible. The metaphor of a river flowing into the sea is used to describe their attraction, saying that it is natural and meant to be.

The chorus expresses the singer's feelings in a straightforward manner, confessing their love and offering their heart and life to their lover. The lyrics repeat the wise saying that only fools rush in, but the singer emphasizes that they cannot help falling in love with their partner. The metaphor of the river flowing into the sea is used again to convey that their love will continue to grow and deepen as it is meant to be.

The final verse repeats the earlier metaphors and expresses the singer's inability to resist their attraction to their lover. The lyrics convey a sense of inevitability, stating that the singer cannot help themselves from falling deeper in love with their partner. Overall, the lyrics of "Fall in Love" express the depth and intensity of love and its natural, inevitable progression.

When I first heard they were doing this song I though to myself that Ritchie has finally lost the plot by covering an Elvis tune but I have to say that this is actually bloody good and Candice does a very good job on the vocals. People should also stop blaming her for Ritchie walking away from heavy rock because he was interested in renaissance type music as far back as the Rainbow rising days.

This is a great, fun version of the song. Believe it or not, it's based on Andy Williams's version which got to No 3 in the UK charts in 1970 - it uses the same rhythm. Not a lot of people know that! I play this version live and it goes down a storm - thanks for the arrangement, Candice and Ritchie!

Я рад за них! ... и самые искренние поздравления с рождением дочери! Wise men say only fools rush in... Vivat!

after a few listens this song actually grows on you. Ritchie's playing adds something to it. It would have been interesting to hear Elvis sing and Ritchie playing guitar.

Elvis never had it so good. This is just perfect old school rock and roll.

Janice Bockholt
