20-Dreamy Lady
T. Rex Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

O dreamy lady
Won`t you come
To my bed
Night is the right time
To get acquainted with my head
In my bed

Star light is shinning
Silver baby hold me tight
Moon beams are twining
In the portals of my sight
You`re so right

Na, na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Will you still love me

Oh dreamy lady

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of T. Rex's song "Dreamy Lady" talks about a desire for companionship at night. It begins with an invitation to a "dreamy lady" to come to the singer's bed. The night is seen as the perfect time to get to know each other better, and the singer is eager for her to "get acquainted with my head." The imagery continues with references to the stars and moon, as the "silver baby" is asked to hold the singer tight, while the "moon beams twine" in their sight. The song ends with a plea to know if the dreamy lady will still love the singer.

The song's lyrics suggest that the singer is looking for more than just a physical encounter, but a deeper emotional connection. The reference to "getting acquainted with my head" implies that the singer is seeking intellectual and emotional intimacy, rather than just a physical one. The use of vivid imagery in reference to the stars and the moon, suggests a sense of longing and the desire for a deeper connection.

Bombastic, he hadn't done a single as perfect as this one since 20th Century Boy. Utterly original, the bassline is a work of art, groovy, sexy. The whole tune is fascinating, it must have completely surprised the critics as it was so unexpected. He had never done something like this. His best song since The Babe and Sweet Shadow on Tanx, without any doubt possible :)
