Planet Queen
T. Rex Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The planet queen perchance to dream
She used my head like an exploder
The planet queen

The worlds the same I am to blame
She used my head like a revolver
The world's the same
Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

Dragon head machine of lead
Cadillac king dancer in the midnight
Dragon head

The planet queen perchance to dream
She used my head like a revolver
The world's the same

Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

The dragon head machine of lead
Cadillac king dancer in the midnight
Dragon head

The planet queen perchance to dream
She used my head like a revolver
The planet queen

Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

Well it's all right
Love is what she want
Flying saucer take me away
Give me your daughter

Give me your daughter
Give me your daughter

Give me your daughter

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to T. Rex's song "Planet Queen" are enigmatic and open to interpretation. The song seems to be about a seductive and mysterious woman who is referred to as the "planet queen." She is portrayed as a dream-like figure who has used the singer's head as an "exploder" and a "revolver," suggesting that she has a powerful effect on him. The singer also seems to be blaming himself for something, stating that he is "to blame" for the way the world is, perhaps suggesting that his obsession with the planet queen has had a negative impact on his life.

The chorus of the song is repetitive and seems to call out to some sort of extraterrestrial force, with the singer pleading for a flying saucer to come and take him away. He also makes a disturbing request for the daughters of whoever is listening to the song, asking them to be given to him. The second verse introduces another metaphorical image, that of a "dragon head machine of lead" and a "Cadillac king dancer in the midnight." These images, like the planet queen, are open to interpretation, but seem to suggest a similar combination of power, allure, and danger.

Overall, the song seems to be exploring themes of obsession, desire, and the blurry line between fantasy and reality. The planet queen may be a representation of a particular person or mindset, or may simply be a symbol for something much more universal.

Rainha Planeta
Possivelmente sonhe
Ela usou minha cabeça
Como um detonador
A Rainha Planeta

O mundo continua na mesma
Eu sou o culpado
Ela usou minha cabeça
Como um revólver
O mundo continua na mesma

Bem está tudo certo
Amor é o que você quer
Disco voador me leva embora
Me dê sua filha

Cabeça de dragão
Máquina de chumbo
Rei do Cadillac
Dançarino à meia-noite
Cabeça de dragão

Rainha Planeta
Possivelmente sonhe
Ela usou minha cabeça
Como um revólver
O mundo continua na mesma

Bem está tudo certo
Amor é o que você quer
Disco voador me leva embora
Me dê sua filha

Me dê sua filha

Riding on a cosmic wave
With my guitar by my side
Electric love, my soul's crave
For a world that's wild and wide

I'm the king of rock n' roll
In my velvet, I'm a man
With a heart that's made of gold

I'll dance with the moon and stars
In my silver boots so bright
With my voice that never jars
I'll serenade you through the night

I'm the king of rock n' roll
In my velvet, I'm a man
With a heart that's made of gold

In the land of love and magic
I'll take you by the hand
And we'll dance so free and tragic
To the sound of my command

Chorus:
Oh, with my glitter and my glam
I'm the king of rock n' roll
In my velvet, I'm a man
With a heart that's made of gold

So come and join me on this ride
On a journey through the stars
With my guitar as my guide
We'll escape our earthly scars.

Yes, good call. Sounds great when he shifts up. A very 'hand made' song.

It takes genius to create a second movement successfully connected to the first.

The one and only T Rex. Marc Bolan

nukem

Marc Bolan could turn the guitar into a percussion instrument. No other artist came close. This song and Mambo Sun show this amazing ability that he had.

Steve Corneliussen

Of course they used a Celtic Percussionist AND two Drummers to create this sound.... which may have something to do with it. Wait a minute... that's right... Marc Bolan was god. I forgot. Never mind....

Fanny Adams

True.... but i know awesome beautiful and beyond talented who can do just so.... plus sooo much more as musicians 🙄🤔🕴👉👌😎

Johnny Thunders

If you're talking about the guitar as a percussive, rhythmic instrument i would suggest checking out John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley, Jimmy Nolen, Andy Gill, Keith Richards, Johnny Ramone, Gary Shider, Steve Cropper even. Marc Bolan was a great artist but a great rhythmically inclined guitar player he was not.
