Ride a White Star
T. Rex Lyrics

Ride it on out like a bird in the sky ways
Ride it on out like you were a bird
Fly it all out like an eagle in a sunbeam
Ride it on out like you were a bird

Wear a tall hat like a druid in the old days
Wear a tall hat and a tattooed gown
Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane
Wear your hair long, babe, you can't go wrong

Catch a bright star and place it on your fore-head
Say a few spells and baby there you go
Take a black cat
Sit it on your shoulder
And in the morning you'll know all you know

This was my intro to T Rex but I didn’t initially “get" Ride a White Swan it was Hot Love that did it for me and this album was in my local record store in a a provincial town in Norfolk (which doubled as an electrical store) I brought it naively thinking that Hot Love would be on it! Lofty Skies was the “killer track” for me but it was only after Electric Warrior that I finally went back to the earlier stuff and this is actually a perfect introduction to pre 1970 T rex - you then need to get the T Rex Album!! Bolan Boogie is also worth a look for those wanting to sample the “Fly” back catalogue 49p a bargain!!

I bought my original copy in an electrical/record store in Suffolk in 1972.. Lowestoft Electrical. Had a tiny record department upstairs...

My experience almost exactly - my son still has these (and all my others!) - The last I bought was the simply named: Zinc Alloy and the hidden riders of tomorrow or a Cream cage in August.

"King of the Rumbling Spires" is such a powerful, amazing song...
Great melody, great arrangement, manic guitar !
