Iwase studied music with Dick Grove at the Grove School of Music prior to its closure in 1991.

Iwase is credited with composing all of the music to the game Metal Gear Solid, with the exception being the ending theme "The Best Is Yet to Come". This includes the well-known main theme to Metal Gear Solid, arrangements of which were subsequently used in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Ohh, hell yes!! ^_^ I've looked for ages for this music on Youtube, thanks for posting it! :D A lost gem in the MGS series, and with one hell of a soundtrack, absolutely brilliant.

Yeah, Snake is basically saying he did a VR simulation mission of the Tanker (ship) in order to prepare for it. The 'Discovery' is the name of the marine tanker.

But Snake hates VR training. He constantly criticised the technology and never mentioned doing a VR mission himself. The only person who did claim recieving VR training was Raiden. In fact, after the harrier fight, Raiden says he completed a VR simulation of the Tanker incident before. I repeat: Raiden says he did a VR simulation of Tanker. And Snake replies to that saying he doubts the simulation depicted the real event accurately all the while we are being shown "cut content" from the Tanker mission that we didn't get to play as Snake's flashback.

Now here is the most mind blowing part: After you beat the game, you can skip the Tanker mission and go straight to Plant, right? Well, if you do that, then Raiden won't mention doing a VR mission of Tanker. In other words, if the player doesn't play Tanker, Raiden won't "play" it either. This is one of the best 4th wall breaks in MGS2 and gets mostly overlooked. But what does it mean? It means we didn't get to play the actual Tanker incident. We actually played as Raiden playing as Snake in VR.

Same probably goes for MGS1 VR missions as well. The line "Thanks to the VR training I did on board the discovery." was probably said by Raiden inside the simulation.

This is even more conspiracy-nutish, but in Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel (the one for the Game Boy color) if you beat all of the VR missions there's an unseen character that calls you Jack... before MGS2 even came out.

@BlueKewne the TAPPY song was taken from the Winter Road theme made by Sviridov, a Russian composer, TAPPY didn't paid for those rights and showed that song as theirs, then mr Gregsson Williams adapted this song to games 2 and 3, but w/o rights payment or a mention to mr Sviridov Konami could face legal problems, that is the reason why it was banned....

@filipeflower Yep, In fact, Mr Kojima didn't knew until some Russian guys showed him the music by Sviridov and when was that song made, that forced Mr Kojima to take out the song from every new MGS game (even though you can find a remix made by Harry Gregson Williams in the MGS4 OST). The Russians showing the song to Mr Kojima is in a video posted on Youtube, you can look for it.
