Having sold over 65 million records worldwide, TLC is the best-selling American girl group of all time. VH1 ranked TLC as the greatest female group, placing them at number 12 on the list of 100 Greatest Women in Music. Billboard magazine ranked TLC as one of the greatest musical trios, as well as the seventh-most-successful act of the 1990s. The group's accolades include four career Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and five Soul Train Music Awards.
Twenty years after their debut, TLC received the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the 17th MOBO Awards and the Legend Award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Japan. Following Lopes's death in 2002, instead of replacing her, the remaining members chose to continue as a duo. In 2017, they released their eponymous fifth album TLC. In 2022, the group was inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame.

Oh God 'G'
I don't know God, I don't know God
I don't God, I don't really really know check my flow
My man Al B. Sure 'He's In Effect Mode'
Used to have a crush on Dawn from En Vogue
It's not like honey dip would want to get wit me
Um, speakin' of which, you know how I troop
Late Thursday night playing ball at run and shoot
I see my girl Chilli in her Lexus Coupe
Sittin' pretty, oh, in that hot pink suit
And Bam!
In through the door she struts
It's the lovely T-Boz with the ill haircut
But Left Eye's the dime piece
Yeah, you know it's all good
But I hear, it was a hood
It's like that y'all
My name's Malik the Phife from freak
It's like that y'all
My name's Malike the Phife from freak
It's on the M-I-C-R-O-P-H-O-N-E I rule
TLC up in the house
Crazy Sexy Cool
Ya know what I'm sayin'
The TLC song "Intro-lude" is an introductory track that sets the tone for the funk and R&B-infused music for which the group is known. It begins with a callout to rapper Left Eye, signaling her significance in the group and to the rap community at large. The lyrics go on to mention Al B. Sure, another R&B singer who was popular in the late 80s and early 90s, and Dawn from En Vogue, a member of the popular R&B group of the same name. The lyrics also touch on themes of sexual attraction and protection, with references to owning condoms and playing basketball late at night. The song ends with a rap verse from Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest, who declares that TLC is "Crazy Sexy Cool" and adds a sense of hip-hop authenticity to the track.
Overall, the lyrics of "Intro-lude" reflect the playful, confident, and sometimes risqué nature of TLC's music. They showcase the group's ability to blend genres and styles, while also paying tribute to their rap predecessors and contemporaries. The song sets the stage for the rest of the album, which includes some of the group's most famous hits like "Waterfalls," "Creep," and "Red Light Special."
