The person was disrespectful to my girlfriend by propositioning her without my consent.

He had three buddies so I had no chance
The person had other people with him, making me feel outnumbered and helpless.

I looked around the room for a friend and I saw Fred
I scanned the room for potential help and noticed my friend Fred.

A quick evaluation of the situation
Fred and I quickly assessed the danger of the situation.

And we entered into a conversation
We initiated a conversation as a distraction to avoid a physical altercation.

Now I didn’t say and they didn’t ask
I didn't disclose that Fred was a former Marine and they didn't inquire about his military background.

But Fred did two tours over in Iraq
Fred was a veteran who had experienced combat on two separate occasions in Iraq.

And, son, it was over before it was even on.
The potential fight never happened and the aggressors retreated once they learned of Fred's military background.

I suggested that she dress provocatively to attract attention and, if need be, ask for Fred's help in navigating the environment.
