Which Way To Pray
T Graham Brown Lyrics

Sayin': "I lay me down to sleep.
"Lord, bless us with a happy home,
"An' please make Daddy leave me alone."
'Cause the way he kisses her goodnight;
She knows that something's just not right.
Does she ask for things to be ok?
Does she ask for wings to fly away?
Which way to pray.
She made it through those troubled years,
But she's not through with pain an' tears.
'Cause now, it seems, the man she chose,
Has a side that no-one knows.
Her make-up hides the tell-tale scars,
But not the wounds inside her heart.
Does she ask the Lord for strength to stay?
Does she ask for help to get away?
Sometimes, it's hard to know,
Which way to pray.
The preacher called and said:"Come home.
"I'm afraid your Daddy's almost gone."
Hate in your heart is no way to live.
Comes a time when you've got to forgive.
Suddenly, she was ten years old:
She fought the tears and searched her soul.
Should she ask the Lord to ease his pain?
Or ask for Angels to take him away?
Sometimes, it's hard to know,
Which way to pray.
'Cause life is never black and white,
There's so many shades of grey.
Sometimes we just don't know which way to pray.
Sometimes we just don't know which way to pray.
T Graham Brown's song Which Way To Pray tells the story of a little girl who is praying for a happy home and for her daddy to leave her alone. Despite his goodnight kisses, she knows that something is not right, and she’s unsure which way to pray. As the song progresses, we learn that the little girl grows up to choose a man who also has a side that no one knows. Her makeup hides the tell-tale scars, but not the wounds inside her heart. She struggles with asking the Lord for strength to stay or for help to get away. The song is a powerful reminder of the complexity of life and how the way we pray can be influenced by our experiences.
The lyrics encourage us to reflect on the different shades of grey in our lives, to consider the difficult decisions we have to make at times, and the value of forgiveness. The song suggests that sometimes, life is not about being black and white, and sometimes it's hard to know which way to pray. This means that sometimes we can be torn between different options and not know which path to take. The song encourages us to trust in our faith and to believe that no matter what path we take, things will work out in the end.

Sad but true...Deep and Real song! (Real-Deep) Another great song from T. T's songs seem to always be able to touch the lives of many of us throughout the country...in a good and helpful way... commonly relative to the everyday lives of many. T has always been in touch. That's something many artist can't honestly say. T hasn't nor will he ever lose his ability to do so. He's one of us! "Memories of Clements Wash-Hole!"
