In The Morning
Taddy Porter Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But the boy had just begun
And tell me boy why're you havin' no fun
Then she dropped her love on my tounge
Call me in the morning
I said call me in the morning
Till the morning explodes on you world
I won't forget, I'll remember some how
And do you feel the same as me now
Call me in the morning
I said call me in the morning
I can love you in the morning
I said I can love you in the morning
I said so glad to meet you
I could not forget you if I tried
Those lies will suit you
Then again the summer's rays never lie, to me
Tell me boy why're you havin' no fun
Then she dropped her love on my tounge
I said call me in the morning
I can love you in the morning
Well I can love you in the morning
I said I can love you in the morning
I said I can love you in the morning
Said I can love you in the morning
Said I can love you in the morning
Said I can love you in the morning
I can love you in the morning
And I will miss you in the morning
I can love you in the morning
I can love you in the morning
The song In The Morning by Taddy Porter is a reflection on a short-lived romance. The lyrics begin by acknowledging that the time has flown by quickly and that the boy involved in the relationship has barely begun to enjoy it. He is then questioned about why he is not having any fun. It seems that the woman involved in the relationship is much more invested in it emotionally and drops her love on his tongue, perhaps in an attempt to revive the passion that seems to have dimmed.
The chorus of the song is an invitation for her to call him in the morning, a promise that he can love her in the morning. It is clear that he is not ready to let go of the relationship yet and wants to keep the flames of passion burning. The idea that "the morning explodes on your world" suggests that he believes that this love affair has the potential to bring about a major shift in the woman's life.
As the song progresses, the lyrics become more reflective. The man acknowledges that he will remember the relationship somehow, and questions whether the woman feels the same way. Throughout, the song is filled with romantic imagery, such as when the man tells the woman that he is "so glad to meet you" and that he "could not forget you if he tried".
Overall, In The Morning is a song that explores the tumultuous nature of love affairs, highlighting the intensity of the emotions involved and the uncertain nature of relationships.

One of the people who first heard this on TDU2, I was driving along the coast to a perfect sunset when it started playing, it completed the moment and I totally fell in love with this song for it, amazing stuff.

This song creates some of TDU2's best cruising moments, as it's just so damn calm and mellow. Come a sunset when you're cruising along in your favorite car on your favorite road, it's absolute magic. Even if it makes no damn sense, it's just...awesome.

Ahh TDU2. I love the game. I had so many memories on it, met so many people. That game was like an escape for me, as odd as it sounds. This song specifically brings back memories. I am still emotionally attached to tdu2 and haven't played it since 2013. The day I hear that tdu2 is backwards compatible I will cry tears of joy, that is promised.
