Now I'm turning 20 no pretending
I was stuck
Learned a lot of lessons I was missing out on love
Lately it's been feeling like I'm straight up out of luck
My friends don't know me
Only three of them are true
I used to care but now it's cool
Wanna make some new ones
Wanna have some new funds
Gotta really move on gotta really move
Sick of tryna wonder what these people think of me yeah
I was tryna see ya
Onomatopoeia
At your place in a space
That I wanna be at
Flexing for the gram
Pictures of us holding hands
Gross
Super yucky heard that we were
Thought that I was getting luck
But that's okay I don't wanna be the next guy that you're gonna play
She likes to love me I like to love it
I like to love it
She likes to love me I like to love it
I like to love it
She likes to love me I like to love it
I like to love it
She likes to love me I like to love it
I like to love it
Waking up in the morning feeling lonely grab my phone and
Call you up no I won't
Self control
Xbox
I need to remember that
But I keep coming back
And I hate that I rap about you
And making this track
About you
Sike these are false memories mixed
In with reality don't be asking where I be in the studio or a sleep
Always hopping on the beat
Tryna be a better me
Tell me what you really see
Focused on the things need
Sick of tryna wonder what these people think of me yeah
I was tryna see ya
Onomatopoeia
At your place in a space
That I wanna be at
Flexing for the gram
Pictures of us holding hands
Gross
Super yucky heard that we were
Thought that I was getting luck
But that's okay I don't wanna be the next guy that you're gonna play
At your place listen to music on the telly
Make some space I wanna see you shake like jelly shake, shake, shake, shake like jelly
I need you like I'm Nelly
At your place listen to music on the telly
Make some space I wanna see you shake like jelly shake, shake, shake, shake like jelly
I need you like I'm Nelly
In "Twenty," Taka Perry highlights the transition from a difficult year into turning twenty and the desire to move on from previous relationships. The song starts with the lyrics β2020 messed me up, Now I'm turning 20 no pretending, I was stuckβ which speaks to Taka experiencing upheaval and discomfort caused by the previous year, and now recognizing that turning twenty is a milestone moment in his life. He then reflects on lessons learned from past relationships and the realization that only a few friends know the real him.
The lyrics βMy past relationships are through, Wanna make some new ones, Wanna have some new funds, Gotta really move on gotta really moveβ display Takaβs desire to leave the past behind and move on from previous relationships. He acknowledges that he is sick of trying to please others and wonders about their thoughts of him. The chorus has repetition of the phrase βShe likes to love me, I like to love it,β which conveys his desire for affection but also his reluctance to commit fully.
Towards the end of the song, Taka contemplates returning to the person heβs trying to move on from before ultimately rejecting that idea, saying βBut that's okay I don't wanna be the next guy that you're gonna play.β The song ends with Takaβs desire to start fresh and allow himself to move on.
