These Days
Take It Back! Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

These are the days, the days we never thought we'd see. This is the end, of the way we think that things should be.

Our time is running out, our time is now, this time we're seeing through clear eyes, we're taking back what is ours. With lessons still left to learn, this it's our turn, we're taking back what is ours.

Who will remember all of the things, the things we have forgotten? Who will right the things, the things that we've done wrong? Who will the hearts of those who hurt? Who will be His hands? Who will go?

These are the days we thought would last forever. These are the days thought would never, ever end.
These days will never be the same, familiar faces with different names.

Overall Meaning

In These Days, Take It Back! reflects on the current state of the world and society as a whole. The lyrics lament the fact that these times are not what we thought they would be and that the world has taken a turn for the worse. The chorus states that "our time is running out" and that "we're taking back what is ours". This suggests that there is a call to action to make things better and take ownership of our lives, to make the most of what we have and to create a better world. This message is reinforced by the line, "with lessons still left to learn, this it's our turn", reminding us of the importance of learning from past mistakes and taking action to change the future.

The second verse of the song asks a series of questions, emphasizing the confusion and uncertainty of the current state of affairs. Questions like "Who will remember all of the things, the things we have forgotten?" and "Who will right the things, the things that we've done wrong?" show that there is a sense of responsibility for the state of the world, but also a sense that change is possible. The final line, "Who will go?", is a call to action, asking who will step up and take action to create a better world.

Overall, These Days is a song that encourages listeners to take ownership of their lives and to work towards creating a better world. It recognizes the challenges and difficulties that we face, but also emphasizes the importance of taking action and making a difference.

Oh, I can see the future
Coming to you
Cry away the sadness in your eyes
And I can find a faith
In days I've wasted
Been around enough to feel alive

And when the world is broken,
Hard and cold,
And no one ever knows the reason why

For the ones we may become
For the battles we have won
For the day we reach the sun
Gonna play it loud tonight

When you dream of a dream
And you live in the world
Every hope is a hope for the best
And won't you rest on my bones
And you're calling me now
I was here all the time
Should be out there living the life
And not just watching, oh

Take me back
Before we all explode
Before we turn to stone
Before the night has gone
Take me back
To where it all began
To where our memories grow
Before they take us over

Tonight we're gonna live for—
We're gonna live for these days
Tonight, tonight we'll remember—
We'll remember these days

What a day to believe—
To believe in the night
What a day to belong to a face in the crowd
And the beat of your heart
And I'm already in
And you're working it out
And you're holding us all in your hands,
Oh, what you waiting for

Take me back
Before we lose control
Before the tables turn
Before we break it all
Take me back
To where it all began
To where our memories grow
Before they take us over

Tonight we're gonna live for—
We're gonna live for these days
Tonight, tonight we'll remember—
We'll remember these days

Oh, I can see the future
Coming to you
Cry away the sadness in your eyes
And I can find a faith
In days I've wasted
Been around enough to feel alive

And when the world is broken,
Hard and cold,
And no one ever knows the reason why

For the ones we may become
For the battles we have won
For the day we reach the sun
Gonna play it loud tonight

Tonight we're gonna live for—
We're gonna live for these days
Tonight, tonight we'll remember—
We'll remember these days

Tonight, tonight we're gonna live for—
We're gonna live for these days
Tonight, tonight we'll remember—
We'll remember these days

[3x]
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
These days

Totally wasn't into Take That when I was a teenager, but now I've matured, and the wife loves Gary, I really like them! We just saw them in concert for the first time couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say that it was one of the happiest concerts I've been to. Their crowd love them and the three boys clearly love them back.
