Even to this day, I stay away from the community, even though I deeply love Fire Emblem, as the level of toxicity and bandwagoning within it is unparalleled. Mention Fates today and people still hold it with such disgust and contempt as if it slaughtered their whole family. Though with every game comes people bashing for the sake of bashing.

when that happened i got so angry because i foolishly just sent Lorenz up there by himself thinking go in, take the hill, regroup with the squad, the fire came down and Lorenz was surrounded by like 4 Knights and could only move 1 space at a time, luckily he made it out okay Lorenz was a surprisingly strong unit in my game

I spent a bit trying to find any big negative points to the game, but I couldn’t find them. Sure there is enough to nitpick. The graphics, some qol aspects, some characters and a few story devices. Yet, the game is just really damn good.

It would have been one but it feels like they were in hurry to finish the game, a lot of stuff looks raw and unpolished, not enough attention to small details, questionable moments in story and other things that could have been done much better. Is it my favorite fire emblem game? Absolutely yes. Is it my favorite game of all time? Far from it. But it’s definitely the best what I played in a while.

@@inekd From the perspective of story, it's blown out of the water by the simple yet effective Geneaology of the Holy War. As for the music, it's generally on-par with the rest of the franchise, albeit the repetition of certain BGMs is grating.

The gameplay, that's where it becomes a bit divisive. On one hand, the mechanics are wonderful, allowing to reclass a character without penalty, and the gambits a generally unobtrusive, but the maps are only vaguely creative, and the "Explore" sections are shallow and poorly thought. Having to repeat the first 11 chapters 3 times to play the remaining 33 chapters is asinine, and a gigantic stain on the final score.

DrummerDucky I don’t really get the divisive aspect of the gameplay. It’s definetely the best FE gameplay-wise by far. The combat arts are useful, but also not overpowered. The way weapons and magic was handled is fantastic. Classes all feel unique and the growth system in this game is really good. Sure, most of the maps aren’t super creative, but in the context of the game it feels appropriate and I never felt bored with the map design like I did with Echoes.
I do agree with the replaying the first 11 chapters, though. It gets pretty boring after the second playthrough, however, I don’t really see how they would’ve done it any differently.

This video made me realize something: Claude’s the only one of the three lords whose official portrait doesn’t include him holding a weapon, and there’re two main reasons for it.

First, his greatest weapon is his schemes. Why show off his bow, when it’s a charming face and cool attitude that aids him?

Second, and more salient, is that he’s the only one who doesn’t actually want to fight. His route is purely a defensive war, and he has no bloodlust for the church, the kingdom, the Empire, or its leaders. In fact, he dreams of a Fodlán bereft of bigotry, prejudice, and violence. More, he dreams of a place where everyone’s friends again.

He really does embody the sun in that way. Yes, if you couldn’t tell, I’m a Golden Deer through and through.

Yes. Claude is the one with the smallest idea of what is actually going on in the world when it comes to both what the Church is doing and what those who Slither are up to. Edelgard is literally the ONLY leader who has even the slightest idea the actual state of Fodlan and without her war, win or lose, none of the amazing changes that come to Fodlan were possible.

Claude says himself that his and Edel's motives are very much in line.

I came here after chapter 13 (golden deer route) and goddess do I need a cover of the OST from that map, unfortunately this is the only piece of music that has survived the Nintendo raids so far. @@ashfreywar9862 Haven't beat my first playthrough yet, but I went with Blue Lions. Dimetri seems like a flawed but a leader with good intentions. There are moments when his head slips into the darkness, but he does it all to protect those he cares about. I haven't got to the time-skip yet, so I may not have the whole story here. That said, he reminds me of Chrom, only more realistic. Pure good and evil are nice tales to listen to, but those who walk in the middle are more relatable at the end of the day.

I actually wish that they bring out a 5th route ("Goddess Route"), where Byleth decided after being waked up and lead by Sothis to reunion all four Factions against Those Who Slither in the Dark and another, yet unknown enemy Faction which wants to destroy Fódlan and is an Enemy to Those Who slither in the Dark.
That time, they would not fight against their Friends on this Battlefield - they would fight together, reunited by Byleth against the other Factions to protect Fódlan from being destroyed

It's a good idea but it kind of defeats the purpose of the other routes tbh. All three of them have different ambitions for Fodlan very similar to each other but still vastly different. It kind of diminishes Edelgards role of being the "ruthless conqueror" if she throws away her ambition to overthrow the church. It could still happen though.

I am somewhat in disagreement, as I feel it takes away from the value of the actual choices. Each ending is supposed to be imperfect, and that's what makes the feeling of choice matter. An ending of being able to say "Hey guys, let's just get along and go against this real enemy" is not only literally Fire Emblem Revelations (which suffers from the issue I mention before), but it essentially makes it so it is objectively the wrong choice to pick any of the other options.

The best part of Three Houses, for me, is being able to see what your choice ultimately leads up to, and in many ways each route is right and wrong in it's own way, but because of how each route is framed you assume the worst from other routes, because of dramatic irony (when the audience knows something the characters do not). This makes for a very enjoyable experience because, as you play, you see the truth behind not only your routes actions, but how it affected other routes and can add new context to what it all means.

Essentially, a perfect route would not only remove any sense of dramatic irony, but it would essentially turn the house select into a "You can either pick these wrong ones, or do the right one", rather than each one being right in it's own way.

This game definitely needs an anime adaptation! Nintendo and Intelligent Systems need to stop playing around and let this series grow beyond video games.

They already have the characters, plot, music, now they need to figure out what’s the canon story and piece it together with direction for the audience.

But knowing Nintendo: ”We want the player to decide what the outcome will be.” So they will never do justice to Fire Emblem all the way.

I'm a black eagle through and through, desiring the freedom from the manipulations of the church and free will. Just wish it wasn't a path of SO MUCH bloodshed. I've played the other routes and appreciate them as they are, and Claude is definitely a very likeable lord, the one who didn't want to fight. :( But, if anyone happens to complete the fourth route, and also, happened to recruit Lysithea and obtained her ending with Edelgard, you'll see why I love it so much. :D
