I’m just glad she went peacefully. I’m no Rhea fan, I think she did a lot of awful things, but just like Edelgard, Dimitri and, to a lesser extent, Claude, she was a tortured soul. Her seeing her mother one last time, before fading away is the most peaceful way for her to go and is something that I definitely wanted for her, despite my feelings towards her actions.

Silver Snow is the saddest Route in Three Houses...

It was especially sad for me in my maddening run of Silver Snow. In the final map, I ran out of divine pulse uses, and Rhea killed literally everyone. Some of my favorite characters who I never let die before in any run fell and it hurt a lot because I spent the last hour playing that map, so I didn’t want to restart.

So I didn’t: I lived with that failure; and when Byleth struck that final blow as the last man standing, he was well and truly on his own. Everyone he loved died, and he now had to mend a broken country when he is far from the best man to lead it.

It was an honestly pretty terrible way to end the game. But I’m a sucker for misery, and I think it played into the vibe SS’s ending was going for; so I kind of dig how it played out.

the way she looks up at byleth and just fades away is one final slap in the face after the already awful battle. rhea may be kind of evil and did a lot of awful things but if i were in her position and had the means to potentially bring back my dearest loved one i can’t say for sure I wouldn’t do it

C. the thing that separated her from TWSITD is that she used homunculi type vessels she herself created, whereas TWSITD abducted and experimented on innocent children that already had their own lives and loved ones. and even then, there's nothing that proves that she treated those homunculi badly, with Sitri being more or less a daughter to her, and even allowing her to get married to Jeralt.

@Your Conscience Silver Snow is the ultimate "we won but at what cost?" ending to me. Like yeah you can apply that to Crimson Flower but the ending of Crimson Flower just feels a bit too idyllic. Like the war with the Agarthans is just resigned to some narration after the cutscene and you don't lose Edelgard or anyone really dear to you, at least onscreen.

It feels a bit post-apocalyptic to me. Fódlan is in absolute chaos because all the leaders are dead, and after defeating TWSITD, the results of the war feel bittersweet. And after all of that, the world feels quiet. Even when Rhea goes berserk, the battle feels self-contained.

Then after all that she went through, Rhea never succeeded in her goal, leaving her... unfulfilled. Her character arc has to do with her moving on from the past, and this song embodies that so incredibly well. Personally one of my favorite cutscenes in the game.

This theme speaks to me it says " thank you, you saved me from the monster I have become". It gives off that vibe while it also feels kind of like the theme used when almight admitted he was done as a hero.

All the main characters and lords are dead, or apparently missing.

The one who survived who was confined in harsh conditions for 5 years, only to fade away after going berserk…

This was the first route created. Imagine if this was the only route. All the leaders of their nations, gone, The church to be the only ones that rule over Fodlan.

If we're going to be honest...

I was setting random ones for a few event songs. I knew they were post-timeskip so I used the timeskip portraits, but I didn't know the exact context at the time so the simplest answer is that Edelgard hadn't showed up in a while as I was making the videos.

In hindsight, yeah putting Rhea here probably would've been better.

I made Silver Snow my final playthrough of Three Houses after finishing the other three routes plus Cindered Shadows. This became more heartbreaking since I experienced the adventures of the House Leaders before playing the route where everyone has become divided.

@Max Richards There isn’t a single ending in the game where Fodlan doesn’t need to be rebuilt. That’s the whole point of the game. The reunification of Fodlan and building a new one. That’s also why every ending has Fodlan being reformed in some kind of way.

Also, Byleth can grow old, and Crest bearers have extended lives. That is why Jeralt lived long enough to forget how old he is and doesn’t look any older after leaving the Knights of Seiros. So with that information it’s pretty safe to assume that the people surrounding Byleth will live just as long as Byleth will or Byleth will die around the same time as they do.

Also even if everyone around Byleth were to die while Byleth lived, that’s not exclusive to Silver Snow and is in fact more likely to happen outside of Silver Snow because Byleth’s main allies in Silver Snow are Seteth and Flayn vs Claude, Hilda, Dimitri, Gilbert, and Dedue who would all die while Seteth and Flayn would not.

Also Byleth would actually have Seteth and Flayn by their side which would keep them on the right path as the leader of Fodlan. Rhea didn’t have Seteth and Flayn after the War of Heroes, as evidenced by Seteth and Jeralt not knowing each other.

@Max Richards Atleast Byleth has Seteth and Flayn though 😔 I suppose it's all up to the player to interpret how Byleth will handle immortality.

Though Claude isn't close with Byleth, I think that he would still want to end the prejudice in Alymra and Fodlan, not just for Byleth, Foldan, and Alymra's sake, but for his sake too, since Claude is mixed race.
