And I can't be whole again, I can't be whole again
I'm sorry
The poison's inside now
And the soul's not aching, I'm scared
Cause I will not love again, I will not love again
It kills me inside, it kills me inside
You have a credulous mind it's not a halo
showing in front of your eyes
Yeeaah
I have a devil inside, he can't say no
Put me to sleep and no more lies, it's over
The river runs red now, my friends
and it will turn red again, it will turn red again
Open your eyes, open your eyes
Yeeah
You have a credulous mind it's not a halo
showing in front of your eyes
Yeeaah
I have a devil inside, he can't say no
Put me to sleep and bury the lies
The bond is wasted, your trust will fall
My journey starts when the grim reaper calls.
Goodbye to you,
goodbye to you,
goodbye to you
It's over now
You have a credulous mind it's not a halo
showing in front of your eyes
Yeeaah
I have a devil inside, he can't say no
Put me to sleep and bury the lies, it's over
There is no Halo
There is no halo,
My friends
The lyrics to Takida's song "Halo" speak of a person who is struggling with their own demons and poison that has entered their life. The opening lines speak of a pounding heart and blood streaming, which suggests a sense of urgency and perhaps physical discomfort. The lyrics then state that the singer cannot be whole again, indicating a sense of loss or damage that cannot be undone. The lines "I'm sorry" suggest a feeling of regret or guilt, which may be related to the poison or damage that has been inflicted upon the singer.
The second verse speaks to the idea of a "devil inside," which can't say no and has put the singer to sleep with lies. This suggests perhaps addiction or a struggle with personal demons that the singer is unable to overcome on their own. The river running red and turning red again could signify a cycle of destruction that the singer is unable to break, despite the warning to open their eyes.
The chorus repeats the idea of a "credulous mind" not recognizing a halo, which perhaps speaks to the idea of false ideals and expectations leading to disappointment and disillusionment. The devil inside the singer is unable to say no and put them to sleep, which may indicate a desire to escape the pain or to be numbed to it.
Overall, the song speaks to the struggle of personal demons and the difficulty of breaking free from destructive cycles of behavior, while also recognizing the pain and loss that can come from such struggles.
