Death Wolf
Taking Back Sunday Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nobody, nobody will
Nobody, nobody will know

I felt like a giant when I sat beside you
You're little but you ain't small
From the comfort of that couch in the sad part of Brooklyn
The train took forever, most nights we'd just stay in
With our head in the clouds and our feet on the floor
Had a little bit and now we want some more
Hands to ourselves triple locking the door
Nobody will know, nobody will know

Thought I had enough and now I'm not sure
Had a little bit and now we want some more
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)

At four in the morning you'd ask how I was doing
Like I didn't know where I was
The good times were met with such reckless abandon
It's always better to have had, always better to have had
With our head in the clouds and our feet on the floor
Had a little bit and now we want some more

Lost all that blood, now we're locking the door
Nobody will know

Thought I had enough but now I'm not sure
Had a little bit and now we want some more
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)

One time, two times, three times, four
Head in the clouds waking up on the floor
One time, two times, three times, four
Head in the clouds waking up on the floor
Had a little something that we couldn't ignore
Lost all that blood, now we're locking the door
One time, two times, three times, four
Head in the clouds waking up on the floor
Had a little something that we couldn't ignore
Lost all that blood, now we're locking the door
Nobody
Nobody will know

Thought I had enough but now I'm not sure
Had a little bit and now we want some more
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)
(Had a little bit and now we want some more)

Lost all that blood now we're locking the door
Nobody, nobody will know

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Death Wolf" by Taking Back Sunday paint a picture of a couple who enjoy living life on the edge. The singer and their partner engage in risky behavior, keeping their adventures a secret from everyone else. They feel invincible in each other's company, comparing themselves to giants even though one of them is physically small. The song is set in the "sad part of Brooklyn", a location that adds to the gritty and dangerous mood.

The couple's experiences are fueled by substance use, leading them to want more even after a seemingly satisfactory amount. However, their fun is tarnished by the harsh reality that their actions could lead to dire consequences. They lock the door to their experience, concealing it from others, but the danger is still real. They are pouring all of their energy into their adventurous behavior, neglecting other aspects of their lives. When they come down from their high, they are left with the realization that they may not have had enough, after all.

Adams honesty is what has carried them all these years. What a fucking guy. This whole band is amazing and has gotten me through some deep shit. Thank you.

ReelNJFishin

Dead wrong

Liquid

@Frank Marano since Fred left the band I think they just went down hill. His influence on the band was very apparent once he left.

@Liquid yeah this isn't my style either, they just went in a different direction. I wonder who their influences are now? Never been into punk very much & this has that upbeat punk vibe, especially the drums. But the very end of the song sounded nice. I think their first 3 albums were the best

Liquid

Song isn't even good his voice is good but it being pushed in the wrong direction imo

The Last Bakura

I don’t agree with you. They are a band they carry each other. Remember There’s no “I” in Team.

SockPuppet89

Amazing. Along with Brand new, Funeral for a friend and Rise against - These guys have been with me through all my teen years and still inspire me in my late 20's. Thanks TBS!
